I was inspired to create a bag that had integrated handles. As I was sketching, I added a pleated front (and back) panel, and a rounded shape with darts to give plenty of room for carrying what you need.
Purse for my DIL for christmas. Check out the custom ladybug zipper pull on my photostream I put on it.
I used a woollen fabric for the base and it was really lovely to sew with. Love those babushka dolls!

Yay, I finished my first frame purse :-) I used the Fortune Cookie Clutch pattern from u handbag, which went together like a dream (even the dreaded curved seams - thanks pins. I couldn't have done it without you!) The pattern calls for compressed fleece, which is what i used, but I think fusible fleece would give the same result and would be a little easier to use too. The only change I made was to use firm interfacing rather that the medium which the pattern calls for. I wanted this purse to really hold it's shape.
I found the hardest part the gluing, I needed more hands than I have :-) but it's all done and dusted now and I'm not put off making more! Everyone will be getting frame purses for christmas this year :-)
Inspired by this bag and the fact that I have a ton of things I am procrastining on, today I made this bag. I have built next to nothing on a sewing machine, and have stolen my moms for the time being. I am proud of myself for figuring out how to make the ruffles and actually making up the pattern for it as I went.
