Hugo Chavez is "a totalitarian communist, militarist and demagogue who has failed to deliver on his promises, violated fundamental rights, meddled in the affairs of other Latin American countries, threatened Venezuela's economy and democracy, illegally silenced opponents, and destabilized global oil prices."
We oppose Hugo Chavez and the other Latin American presidents who are also emulating his model of repression: Mel Zelaya (Honduras), Evo Morales (Bolivia), Rafael Correa (Ecuador), Daniel Ortega (Nicaragua), Cristina Fernandez de Kirchner (Argentina), and Fernando Lugo (Paraguay).
We condemn the abusive influence of Jose Miguel Insulza (Secretary General OAS), and Miguel D'Escoto (President of the UN Assembly General) for manipulating international agenda against the noble nation of Honduras who stood against expanding Chavista communism and brought upon it international isolation and economic sanctions.
We stand:
FOR JUSTICE, not oppression.
FOR DEMOCRACY, not communism.
If you believe in peace and respect instead of hatred and aggression.
For security, for peace, for justice, and for a better world.
For the liberty of expression.
If you believe in education over mass brainwashing.
To help end corruption.

The rest of the Cabinet will stay in as a caretaker government until a new prime minister is chosen. The senior deputy prime minister, Somchai Wongsawat, meanwhile assumes the prime minister's duties. He is the brother-in-law of former Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra.
Parliament will meet Friday to vote on a new prime minister, and all parties can nominate candidates.

I was stunned, overwhelmed, and astonished by the protest at Shahbag. Within minutes I was engulfed by the spirit, energy, and excitement of the crowd there, immediately drawn in the public's desire to get "proper" justice. The environment was phenomenal--there were people from all backgrounds, ages, and religions--and the air was electric with the slogans, optimism, and hopefulness of the crowd.
The country has finally united against an enemy that has burdened it with corruption and hatred even before it was born.

On November 5th, 2008, Proposition 8 was passed by California voters by a margin of 52.5% vs 47.5%. Following the passing of the proposition, many California counties have stopped issuing marriage licenses to same sex couples. As a result wide-spread protests have been documented across the state - San Francisco experiencing one of the largest on November 7th, 2008 as protesters took to the street.

These photos were taken at a protest in front of the coptic hospital the day after copts were attacked. The protest was meant to be a march in mourning till the church in Abbasia for the funeral. However, the head of the coptic hospital wanted to write the death certificates as "natural causes" for death. Ridiculous of course.
On October 9th a peaceful march from Shubra to Maspero was staged to protest against the military police brutally ending a protest last week (Oct 4th), hitting a priest and events like this video: youtu.be/ORft8twm5jM
This protest was heavily attacked, first by unidentified thugs, then by the army. People were shot, run over by army trucks and hit with tear gas, sticks, and there were reports of other weapons and live ammunition.
