Africa has the world’s largest proportion of poor and hungry people, but the lowest rate of coverage by social protection programs. Demand for social protection is growing in Africa, reflecting faster economic growth, rapid urbanization, and more open and pluralistic societies. In the 2014 Malabo Declaration, African leaders called for integrating social protection with measures to increase agricultural productivity to help achieve the goal of ending hunger by 2025.

The 2017–2018 Annual Trends and Outlook Report: Boosting Growth to End Hunger by 2025—The Role of Social Protection takes an in-depth look at the state of social protection in Africa. Seminar speakers will discuss findings and recommendations on successful implementation, filling knowledge gaps, and policy implications for the design and roll-out of social protection programs in Africa.

The report is produced by the Regional Strategic Analysis and Knowledge Support System, a program that provides data and analyses to inform the Comprehensive Africa Agriculture Development Programme (CAADP). ReSaKSS is supported by United States Agency for International Development and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.

Coots are very aggressive and will go to great lengths to protect their territory and young. I have seen them see off anything from a little grebe to a swan. They often launch their attacks from the cover of the reeds without warning. However, it does appear that the Great Crested Grebe is more than a match for them. In this sequence the Coot shoots out the reeds only to discover that a Great Crested Grebe with Chicks is passing by and the Coot makes an instant decision to back off. The Grebe then clearly shows who’s the boss.

We use component protection to maintain the quality of inter stage and finished parts - avoiding costly damage to surfaces during the machining cycle.

No worries about damage for the remote. It was wrapped in a clingy plastic inside a thick plastic bag.

It didn't come in its own cardboard box, but was in an insert in one of the styrofoam forms.

Maybe they didn't want the plastic bag to scratch the remote! :/

Taken at the abandoned Fifth Church of Christ that is just around the corner from my apartment. These grates were covering some of the windows along the ground floor, and I had to wonder how long they had been there and how much longer they would last.

Scared of the Mexican Flu, many people in Bangkok cover their nose and mouth to prevent infection. It looks pretty serious but if they chat with each other they often drop the mouthcap anyway.

A boy in conflict with the law lays on the floor inside a cell at the Children Protection Brigade Center. Children waiting for trial or to be interviewed at the Center stay in a small cell for days before being released. Due to these difficult conditions, UNICEF has planned to build a new center respecting the Children Rights Convention to offer better conditions for the children. The new center will be open by year's end, as the second phase of a bigger project that also includes the construction of af building for interviews that was inaugurated today.

Hands are for Child Protection

I really wanted to share this moment with everyone as a day later i'm still laughing about it.

That's my husband, Greg under the cat burglar outfit loaned to him by our dear friend Steve who is my DJ.

He found it very hard to see so my Mum grabbed high up on his tail to help push him round the dance floor.

The next thing my mum has a look of shock and embarrassment as his tail accidently came off in her hand!

My mum dare not touch greg's bottom to fix it back on so she quitely whispered to Greg "Where does it go?"

You could just here Greg's very upset voice saying " Mother in law, I don't think you're brushing your cat enough if you don't know where the tail goes by now"

Everyone was in fits of laughter!

My fundraising night for cat's Protection.

A bad turn out tonight, especially as the good old British weather picked up and the sun was shining which dragged a number of Brits away to the coast. Who can blame them really?.

Greg and I took a collection tin round at our performances prior to the event and with tonight's raffle and auction and
