This is in a Provincial Park, where they can't really control active beavers like they do on private property, and so they can only control their damage with structures like this. By protecting an important drainage channel with these, beaver can't dam it, and the water can get closer to where it needs to go expeditiously...
Holy Protection Monastery, Golosiivsky Desert - a monastery of the Kyiv Pechersk Lavra, located in the forest on the southern outskirts of Kyiv. Golosiivsky Desert is the place of monastic exploits of Kyiv ascetics of piety in the 18th-19th centuries, and from the second half of the 19th century - the residence of the Kyiv metropolitans.

Bavaria's forests are frequently damaged by game. The best protection against such damage would be adapted game populations, which would have to be regulated by hunting. Counts and checks of bite damage show that the game population is far too high. Complex protective measures are necessary to enable the forest to be rejuvenated with tree species appropriate to the location. This also includes the protection of individual trees against browsing shown here.

The blackbuck (Antilope cervicapra), also known as the Indian antelope, is an antelope native to India and Nepal. It inhabits grassy plains and lightly forested areas with perennial water sources. It stands up to 74 to 84 cm (29 to 33 in) high at the shoulder. Males weigh 20–57 kg (44–126 lb), with an average of 38 kg (84 lb). Females are lighter, weighing 20–33 kg (44–73 lb) or 27 kg (60 lb) on average. Males have 35–75 cm (14–30 in) long, ringed horns, though females may develop horns as well. The white fur on the chin and around the eyes is in sharp contrast with the black stripes on the face. The coats of males show a two-tone colouration; while the upper parts and outsides of the legs are dark brown to black, the underparts and the insides of the legs are white. Females and juveniles are yellowish fawn to tan. The blackbuck is the sole living member of the genus Antilope and was scientifically described by Carl Linnaeus in 1758. Two subspecies are recognized. The antelope is native to and found mainly in India, while it is locally extinct in Pakistan and Bangladesh. Formerly widespread, only small, scattered herds are seen today, largely confined to protected areas. During the 20th century, blackbuck numbers declined sharply due to excessive hunting, deforestation, and habitat degradation. The blackbuck has been introduced in Argentina and the United States. In India, hunting of blackbuck is prohibited under Schedule I of the Wildlife Protection Act of 1972. The blackbuck has significance in Hinduism; Indian and Nepali villagers do not harm the antelope. Another shot from the Felbrigg Estate as the mist receded for awhile. There seemed to be endless compositions with these trees, protected from sheep by the wooden slats dotted about.

Sometimes photo shots can be deceiving.
What appears to be a dove “hug” or protection against the rain was in fact a very aggressive Laughing Dove towards the little Red-headed Finches.
However the end result is an image that portrays an emotion.

There are some harsh realities in nature. This mama bear had three cute spring cubs just last week. Unfortunately, she lost two of them just a few days ago when a boar ate them. These days, mama and her lone surviving cub are weary of every moment around them. You can really see the sadness in their eyes. Our group was very lucky to spend some time with them yesterday.
