Not the best photo, and I wish I could have gotten a different angle, or had a different lens. But I still like the overall composition. HWho would have guessed they are such close friends... I guess this is pretty common, the birds like to build nests out of reach of the Gators, because many nest robbers then are in reach of the gators... Home protection!!!

Phalacrocorax carbo, the great cormorant, is a large dark waterbird from the family Phalacrocoracidae. It lives along coasts, in estuaries and on big inland lakes and rivers across Europe, Asia, Africa and Australia. Its plumage is only partly waterproof, so after diving it often sits with its wings spread to dry them and to regulate its body temperature. The great cormorant hunts mainly fish, which it chases under water with strong webbed feet and catches with its hooked bill. It usually breeds in dense colonies in trees, reed beds or on rocky islands, where pairs build bulky nests that they may use again in later years. In many regions numbers once fell because of hunting and habitat loss, but protection and cleaner waters have helped the species recover in several areas and this can sometimes cause conflicts with fisheries.

The Pigeon Point Lighthouse has stood proud and (115 feet) tall since 1872, the year it began to guide mariners from its perch on a 35-foot cliff in Pescadero.
Each lighthouse has its own distinctive light pattern which makes it identifiable to passing ships. Ship captains carry a "light list" of the various patterns, and thus can use the signal to help determine their location. As the Pigeon Point lighthouse's Fresnel lens rotated around the light source, it produced a flash pattern of light every 10 seconds. An automated Aero beacon was installed in 1972, but the 10-second light pattern is still maintained today.
Each November the original Fresnel lens is lit on the anniversary of it's first lighting.

The Meteora Monasteries are built on rock formations in the regional unit of Trikala, in Thessaly, Greece, hosting one of the largest and most precipitously built complexes of Eastern Orthodox monasteries, second in importance only to Mount Athos
Between the 13th and 14th centuries, the twenty-four monasteries were established atop the rocks. Meteora is located near the town of Kalabaka...

Gorillas need protection. The only enemies of gorillas are the people. African people kill them for eating . Hunters hunt them to bring it into the zoo and in laboratories.....The gorilla counts today to the protected kinds and he lives in the mountain of Uganda, Ruanda and Zaire ... ( unfortunately not all may live in freedom and liberty )

Another shot from the Thames Barrier in Greenwich, with sunset rapidly approaching there was a good amount of golden soft light to play with, the lower light allowing a decent long exposure time, just showing of a lone section of the river defence, these to me are a very interesting and unusual architectural design, almost space age, and set against some recognisable shapes in the City make for some unusual images when coupled with a long exposure.

Bavaria's forests are frequently damaged by game. The best protection against such damage would be adapted game populations, which would have to be regulated by hunting. Counts and checks of bite damage show that the game population is far too high. Complex protective measures are necessary to enable the forest to be rejuvenated with tree species appropriate to the location. This also includes the protection of individual trees against browsing shown here.
