Unexpected results using the Latin name (Desmodus rotundus) for the common vampire bat. rotundus is round in Latin so that probably explains the circular results.

I cut up an old pair of my jeans and used up some very old blue butterfly fabric as lining and handl for a new bag. Side have pockets to put things in. My machine broke in the middle of putting the lining in so I'm so sad!

Day 23 - Electric // Were you expecting something more pink? Yeah, me too. This is my laptop. It was a bargain seeing as it was an old OS and a display model on top of that. It works, but I was really looking forward to getting my dream computer that year. Rather depressed about it actually seeing as I probably will never see another computer as cute as the one I saw last year. Should have spent the extra six-hundred dollars for happiness.

Prompt: Style

Smoking in style.

Starting with Prompt A Day mid-month. The 12th was a prompt about pen pals.

Part of the workshop is layering colors...and unbelievably (given the amount of art and craft junk I've accumulated over the years), I didn't have the burnt sienna or magenta that Kelly had used for her daily sample. But another part of the plan is to just go with what you have, so I subbed. I think the color combination came out OK. Since I'm attempting to organize my studio space I am fully aware of what a lot of paper I have. These were all scraps and pictures I've in piles, with the exception of that pen nib paper I got for ten cents at Ben Franklin last week. The book is just a big spiral sketch book that I've used on and off. I think it has enough pages to get through the rest of September, and maybe even work on a couple of the earlier in the month prompts.

Maybe this needs a little more grunging up? Maybe not. I had fun working the page. Although it makes me a little sad to think back about being as lonely and disconnected as I felt at times growing up. Does everyone feel that way?

I'm glad to say I'm a pretty happy grown up. But anyone who knows me will attest I am a lousy letter writer. I love to send art through the mail, but hate to write long notes to go with the things I send...

(PS - that little scrap "many different people" is actually a photocopy from one of my old, old journals when I was bout 12! I had just made copies of it for another little project I'm working on, and thought this bit fit the theme.)

Prompt: 1930's - Money is Tight

Journaling reads: "Summer 2013, you girls started asking about money, so we decided to start "work pay" - earning money for chores and responsibilities. We learned quickly that Hannah is motivated and loves to spend, while Lexi is content feeding her little piggy! Love you girls!"

I really enjoyed creating this layout (used lots of Tim Holtz inks, a Crafters Workshop stencil, and even used my Slice to cut out those birds. Thanks for the inspiration Lynnette and Leslie!

doodle in the rain for #inktober2016. Today's #inktober prompt: WET.

I realize that the original Wicked Witch got squished by a house, but I figured an ice cube fit into the whole "wet" theme better. :-) Side fact: I've always liked the ephemeral aspect of using perishable items for found object art, but this particular piece was more ephemeral than others because of (1) the falling rain affecting the paint, (2) the wet wood beneath the paper starting to seep through, and (3) the melting ice cube.

i liked this final prompt. it was a lot o' fun. i didn't want to get negative with the "nots", but it's funny how they reveal what i wish i were (a little more of)! the precious items i tend to save (not use) are vintage labels and seals so i used them on this assignment!

and in doing so, promptly lost her (already addled) mind. Dear God. I'm 38+5 today and today I've managed to leave my maternity notes in the library, leave half our dinner in the take away and lose my purse. Oh, and then a man came to buy my Pramette and wanted a demo and I had NO idea how to work it. Lol. What a pillock I looked.

Baby, you can come out now. I'm bored of being pregnant, you're fully cooked and just making me grumpy and uncomfortable. I saw THE loveliest midwife this morning who was just like one big hug in an appointment, but really, I don't WANT to be discussing sweeps and induction and all that nonsense. Thanks ever so. Be spontaneous, like your brother was! ;)

Prompt from The Idea Room

Prompted by the loss of Bagui Bouga from the Nigerien group Etran FInatawa, I dusted off a few old photos from their concert in Swaziland, 2009.

Each key has a journalling prompt, written on the back. I used Elsie/ Rachel's: 'Tell Your Story' and Janelle's; 30 Day Challenge, prompts - cos I loved them so much - plus a few extra of my own! Now I'm never gonna be stuck for what to write!

A self-service McDonalds panel at M6 Sandbach motorway services appears to be stuck at boot, or at some kind of start-up process. I do love it when tech goes wrong with the general public all to see.

Assuming the time is correct it has been 'Running np6' for over a hour.

ugh. I can't believe I am sharing this with you guys. I understand if you no longer want to be friends... barf. But yes, I have a Megan Fox thumb!! My own mother didn't know about my thumb until I showed her. I didn't know about my thumb until my cousin showed me when I was younger... It's gross and ugly. I really hope no one else in this group has clubbed thumbs or I am in trouble.
