Ulster Project Celebration Concert at The Oakridge School in Arlington, Texas, Saturday, July 23, 2016.
Please meet Nicole Richard, a Kelowna photographer (Wax Pencil Imagery) who has dedicated the next two years to a project she designed called Socially Anxious People Person.
www.sociallyanxiouspeopleperson.com . It’s a personal wellness journey as well as a philanthropic journey. Nicole’s aim to desensitize her social anxiety and at the same time give back to the community.
I met with Nicole Friday afternoon July 19, 2019 for a photo shoot and to discuss her Mental Health Project.
Who is Nicole Richard,
I'm Nicole Richard. I'm the socially anxious one! So strange because I am also a people person. How does this happen? It's called mental illness and in any given year one in five people in Canada will experience it. I'm also a photographer and owner of Wax Pencil Imagery. www.waxpencil.com
I’m running a photographic documentary of inspiring people in the community. It’s building awareness and donations towards the Bridge’s Youth Recovery House Project.
The SAPP Goal
This is a journey of personal growth and a campaign to help raise funds for a Youth Recovery House in the Okanagan. I want to push past my comfort zone and zap my social anxiety with exposure. To do this I'm taking fine art portraits of inspiring individuals in the community. It's only been a couple months and I'm happy to report it's already working! So long fight or flight. It's been nice knowing ya. The most important thing about this project for me and the team is to raise awareness and funds towards a Youth Recovery House in the Okanagan. We're determined to give back to this beautiful community!
Cathy Sinclair
Cathy Sinclair is the project writer! Often times subjects have a hard time writing their own bio. That's when Cathy steps in and makes you sound as amazing as you are!
Youth Recovery in the Okanagan
Did you know there are currently no youth recovery beds in the Okanagan? It's true. Our young people deserve the chance to heal from addiction. They have their whole lives ahead of them. We can make sure they get the help the need by joining the Bridge in their campaign to build our very own youth recovery house. Let's do this Kelowna!
#197 of 365 Daily Drawings
Inspiration: Trees full of crows at dawn
Result: Dawn of a 1000 eyes
Materials: Pentel 0.3 HB, Platinum Carbon Fountain Pen in a Stillman & Birn Epsilon series sketchbook ( 21.6 cm 27.9 cm / 8 1/2” x 11”)
Location: Home
Note: Every once and a while the trees in the neighbourhood are full of crows, clacking their bills and filling the early morning air with their avian gossip. It's eerie to walk through the streets, still empty of traffic, to the coffee shop at 6 a.m. Your only company the sound of your own footsteps, the caw of countless birds...and the knowledge that thousands of eyes are following you.
"What I Love" così ho chiamato il mio progetto. Attraverso le fotografie cercherò di raccontare quelle che sono le mie passioni, le cose che amo fare, le persone che amo..e magari scoprirne di nuove!

The Farmworker Immersion Project placed students in the community to learn about farmworker rights and immigration issues. The students were guided through a first-hand experience of farm work life. They visited a local berry farm and learned about the agricultural business, then worked in the field and harvested berries.
