In her multi-disciplinary artistic practice, including installations, performances and sculptures, photographs and videos, Rebecca Belmore addresses the embodiment of meaning and sense in the interplay of physical presence and symbolic representation in contemporary societies. In her augmented materiality she evokes narrative dimensions which resonate as an outstanding time- and politics critical potential.
Eindhoven is one of the oldest cities in the Netherlands, it was granted its town charter in 1232. Almost a hundred years older and part of the early settlements of the city is the castle “Ten Hage”, what later was transformed into a convent.
Approaching the Mariënhage complex from the Tramstraat, Rebecca Belmore’s site- and time-specific intervention inhabits the garden next to the Paterskerk. By framing architectural remains with white pebbles and highlighting with bright white light and its reflections, she stages the environment in self-reference to its changes through history.

Life changing. In 8 weeks I will be retiring-- April 27, to be exact. On April 30, I board a plane for England and Scotland where I will be fulfilling a lifelong dream of visiting a land I have loved through books and now through the fellowship of many of you in this forum. Can hardly wait to meet my fellow photographers, walk the coastline of Cornwall and finally see "the moors".

No.7. Imagine a world where crime is so bad, u need finger print access just to get to your food. Though I have to say I'm not sure how useful that would be, because if someone is really hungry, they'll find a way to get in.

Note: My heritage is Finnish and my parents have a wood heated sauna. My father insisted I take the 'pups' in when I went to stew in the 80C heat...and sure enough the girls couldn't get to the top bench fast enough and play with water from the bucket....*face palm*

Another couple of sculptured pieces from Tim Shaw's depiction og the Bacchanalien legend of 'The Rites of Dionysus'. These eye-catching figures are in amongst the vines growing in the Mediterranean Biome.
The Eden Project is a visitor attraction in Cornwall, England. Inside the two biomes are plants that are collected from many diverse climates and environments. The project is located in a reclaimed Kaolinite pit, located 2 km (1.2 mi) from the town of St Blazey and 5 km (3 mi) from the larger town of St Austell, Cornwall.
The complex is dominated by two huge enclosures consisting of adjoining omes that house thousands of plant species, and each enclosure emulates a natural biome. The biomes consist of hundreds of hexagonal and pentagonal, inflated, plastic cells supported by steel frames. The largest of the two biomes simulates a Rainforest environment and the second, a Mediterranean environment. The attraction also has an outside botanical garden which is home to many plants and wildlife native to Cornwall and the UK in general; it also has many plants that provide an important and interesting backstory, for example, those with a prehistoric heritage.
Working on my final project for Applications in Software (Programming).. We had to create some sort of web page incorporating what we had learned over the semester.
I of course created a Photography database/page..
It was actually a lot of fun. Programming was definitely my favorite class this semester.

First off, I’d like to apologize for being such a stranger on everyone’s pages the past while. It was never my intention to blow everyone off at the last minute as this thing drew to a close. Last year we had had an unusually long winter, and I have to wonder if that was one of the reasons I started into this 365 thing to begin with. I was board and there really wasn’t anything else to do. The calendar suggested spring, but the weather suggested we were still in the thick of winter. This year. Spring is on schedule, and those that would be polished are coming out of the wood work (I say that with a grain of salt, noting the 4” of quickly accumulating white stuff in my backyard at the moment. It will probably be melted off by morning). Basically, it’s been a very busy month for me, and what little free time I’ve had, has been used trying to pretend like I’m some sort of decent parent and resting. Now that I’ve finally finished the work on this monster crash crane I’ve been picking at, I’m hoping I can take a little brake from the Mike Rowe wanna be world, spend a little time around the house, and throw some attention in the direction of my friends, both here and over on Multiply. At least that’s the plan.
