Spur of the moment fun with these lovelies. Photos by Karen Petitt/2015.

This week's assignment was REALLY difficult for me!!! I tried panning these pelicans and that turned out pretty badly as well. I never realized how fast a pelican can fly!!!!! This is my third and last entry and I will be honest, I am glad!!! Right now panning and motion is a bit over my head with my skill level but hey I tried it!!

Shots from the collective billboard project I have started at the back of the Ink_d Gallery. This project is open to everyone. I have provided printed imagery of my designs, spray paint and markers for anyone to come and add there mark to this ever evolving exterior canvas. Get on down to the gallery and get your hands dirty....

Pop surrealist, graffiti, tattoo, lowbrow, comic and underground artists show their allegiance to the dark side by customizing Darth Vader helmets in landmark gallery exhibition called The Vader Project, of which debuted at Star Wars Celebration IV on May 24 to 28 at the Los Angeles Convention Center. And, of course, there were 66 of them.

The apprentice projects section was a comfy little hole. This picture surprises me as I don’t recall many of these faces as ever having worked in here at the time that this photo would have been taken. This was where the models, of various sizes and types, were made. The little brass one’s [to be given to visiting dignitaries] were a pain in the arse, even though they looked good. Three weeks to make, eight weeks to polish. I can still taste the polish now.

I've started a new project to customise an Olympus 35RC. The plan is to include a Konica Hexar AF style grip, new skin, smoothed top and bottom plates to remove the hotshoe, self timer lever, all logos and fit a new Leica M4 style film counter surround.

I really should have checked that I wasn't trembling like a leaf.

Another hot day in Christchurch. After the concert on the Archery Lawn (All Girl Brass Band) I wandered around the garden and got a few geocaches. I had searched for the one at this bridge and could not find it. I sat on a bench in the shade for a while before setting off for the next one. As I walked back to the bridge I spotted a young couple there. As I walked towards them the girl suddenly adopted the 'who, me? I'm just admiring the view' stance that is a dead giveaway to fellow cachers. I said "Don't worry, I'm not a muggle. Did you have any luck?" She told me that she had just put it back. Of course, that narrowed the search area for me and I found and signed it. It was a clever hide.

This is a screenshot of the website "Project Watch" that I never published. I wanted to track all of the transportation infrastructure projects going on in Chicago when Mayor Rahm Emanuel was elected and hired Gabe Klein to be the commissioner. The city wasn't tracking the projects, although they said they intended to.

For some reason today just wasn't a day that allowed for much photography. At least I got a few frames shot. After clearing some new fallen snow off the driveway and sidewalk early this morning I did a photo of the front of our home with the Christmas lights still on and the morning sky just starting to get light.

Project Bread is an exploration of economic inequality and an examination of the disparity between the distribution of wealth and income.

Why is it that some are so blinded by their obsession with the accumulation of wealth that they overlook those less fortunate and in genuine need? Why is it that 1% of the world's population owns 50% of the wealth?

Project Bread is constructed from donated bread crates and depicts the ugly truth of the 'Global Wealth Pyramid".

Bread/ Dough = slang for 'money.

Flickr regulars may remember my Polo project which I undertook over a weekend back in August. Work involved replacing the bonnet and passenger wing and applying some much needed tlc to the interior and exterior by way of a very thorough clean.

I had two outstanding jobs left to do after that weekend in August. The first was to replace the passenger wing mirror with the correct body-coloured item to match the driver's side. This was done a few weeks ago in mid December. It took a long time to find a reasonably priced secondhand unit in the right colour on e-bay, but my patience paid off and I eventually managed to obtain one at the end of November. This was fitted easily enough and looks much better than the 'temporary' unpainted one fitted some five years ago.

The final job was to source and fit the VW centre caps for the alloys, as the VW logos seemed to have fallen off all four of the originals. There are loads available on E-bay, so another quick search saw a set on its way to me. These were received just in time for Christmas and fitted on Christmas day morning!

So here's the finished project... Shame it needs cleaning again, but unfortunately the rain over Christmas didn't allow me any opportunity to get out there and give it a quick clean. Maybe in the New Year...

I am being headache with my design for the final project in this week. I use to modify the idea even in last minute, always want to make things perfect. I understand this is not realistic, but at least want to see a better result. Personally I think a designer somehow like a chef cooking a steak that he should knows whether it is too raw or over-cooked. I am still learning to be a top chef.

Inspiration: online discussion of Nightwing in a bathtub eating gelato and Bathound wanting some.....

Result: see above

Materials: Pentel 0.3 HB , Sakura Micron 005 in a Stillman and Birn, Epsilon series sketchbook

Notes: total nonsense but once it was stuck in my head there was no getting rid of it besides trying to draw it.

Also....my PC keeled over and died this morning. For the foreseeable future I am without access to my scanner and accessing the Internet via my tablet.
