In the MBA program, I had to take a project management course where we had to complete an actual project for an external stakeholder. Our external stakeholder was the SFU School of Business, Graduate Programs, and we sent a weather balloon up to 100,000' of elevation with a camera, video camera, and some hops attached to it. When it returned to earth, we tracked it down with a triangulated radio device and recovered everything. Along the way, we got some pretty great pictures and some even better memories (although I wish I could forget about driving 3500km in the span of 72 hours).

The Eden Project is a visitor attraction in Cornwall, England. Inside the two biomes are plants that are collected from many diverse climates and environments. The project is located in a reclaimed Kaolinite pit, located 2 km (1.2 mi) from the town of St Blazey and 5 km (3 mi) from the larger town of St Austell, Cornwall.

The complex is dominated by two huge enclosures consisting of adjoining domes that house thousands of plant species, and each enclosure emulates a natural biome. The biomes consist of hundreds of hexagonal and pentagonal, inflated, plastic cells supported by steel frames. The largest of the two biomes simulates a Rainforest environment and the second, a Mediterranean environment. The attraction also has an outside botanical garden which is home to many plants and wildlife native to Cornwall and the UK in general; it also has many plants that provide an important and interesting backstory, for example, those with a prehistoric heritage.

Yesterday I started on the production of these for the secret project. It was so much fun making them.

For my Final Project, I decided to take 8 photos of a mountain in Squaw Valley and layer them to recreate the original scene. All of the photos were taken with the same exposure, aperture, and zoom. I added the white border around each of the individual photos to show the puzzle pieces that made this project. I am really impresses with how well the photos fit together!

Families experiencing homelessness have found a home thanks to Project Homekey on April 19, 2021. LA County purchased the 41-room former Travel Plaza Inn in Compton for about $6.5 million late 2020 to serve as the only Project Homekey site dedicated to serving families. The families began moving into the property on March 5th, and currently operated by HOPICS. (Photo by Los Angeles County)

The first teaser for my new series, currently named Project Sanders. The name is definitely not permanant and has no connection to the series itself that you'd understand. Also, no connection to Ultron. :) The picture features the series' main antagonist, General Oswalt Stratton. 95% of the characters in this series I have created, I know that won't make much sense now but it will once the series starts. I have already started to write a little of the story and trust me, you are going hate this guy. I'm already loving writing him though! Alright that's about it, please comment if you favorite.

This wire sculpture was a project for our class. I absolutely love this! And, frankly, I never knew I could do it! I had a few ideas before this, but it all failed. So, I just had a sudden brain fart! I said, "Why don't I just make an elephant!" So I did! Then along the way, I thought that just one elephant would be boring and lonely. So I added a baby elephant to be by her side. :) So yeah. I made it overnight. Remind me not to cram again! Gaaah! >.< I tell ya, it wasn't easy making this. Well, I'm thankful I got a good grade for this. It was worth it. :)

Hope you guys like it! :D

This piece is called "Michelles"

Inspired by my friend, Michelle. She adores elephants! Love you, Mich! Miss you! :)

"Be loud and proud as an Engineer" - Roger Collins-Woolcock, 2011

This is a quote from one of the guest speakers at an engineering leadership reception I attended tonight and it really spoke volumes to me. For the past 5 years I have been making the transition to becoming a loud and proud gay man (from being just a shy and ashamed gay boy), and so the relevance of this message was not lost on me.

We engineers often downplay our achievements, and the public responds in kind. Many people don't realise that engineers are everywhere in society, and they have a role in influencing every part of society. Let's say you're reading this on a bus, so look around you and tell me how many things are influenced by engineers? If you just said "well there's the bus, and the roads it drives on" then you wouldn't be alone.

But in reality, asides from the obvious mechanical engineering influencing the bus functioning as a vehicle and the civil engineering influencing the road design, engineering also played a part in the design of the seats, the lighting, the doors, the payment system, the speaker system, the minimal frame allowing you to see so much out the windows, the hearing aid allowing an old lady at the front to hear the annoying kids at the back, the stroller holding the crying baby, the 50 smart phones that people are playing with and the 50 sets of earphones attached.

Outside, yes there is the road, but there is also the stormwater drainage, electrical, telephone, gas, optical fibre, sewerage running under the road, there is street lighting, signage, traffic lights, those things in the middle of the road that make a noise when you run over them, buildings, bridges, tunnels, etc.

As well as developing western infrastructure and conveniences, Engineers are also involved in humanitarian causes, which was a major focus of tonights event.

Alan Noble is an engineer, and also the Director of Engineering for Google Australia and New Zealand. He told us about the google maps initiatives that have recently played an influential part in the post disaster recovery efforts in many parts of the world, including Australia, New Zealand, Japan, USA, etc. He also didn't mind mentioning the millions of dollars that Google provides to not-for-profit charities and other ventures.

Lizzie Brown is an engineer, and also the CEO of Engineers Without Borders (EWB). She talked about the programs that EWB runs throughout the world, building the capacity of small villages by sharing technology and expertise to improve their livelihood. She also talked about finding your place in the massive profession of engineering, such that you can have the most influence and create the most beneficial change to the world around you.

Finally, Roger Collins-Woolcock is an engineer, and also the Director of Cardno NSW/ACT and New Zealand. Cardno is a global engineering consultancy and services provider that is involved in physical and social infrastructure. It is the biggest environmental consultancy in the USA and provides related services throughout the world.

This should count for at least 2 servings of veggies, don't you think??? Especially since some Vodkas are made from potatoes and this Bloody Mary is made with Vegetable juice. I know that tomatoes are technically a fruit, but I still think of them as a veggie and the celery is definitely a veggie.

This outfit is a modified "Myra" jumpsuit by Violette Field Threads. I narrowed and shortened the legs, added a wide cuff, piped the armholes and keyhole, and narrowed and shortened the neck tie. Its made of hot pink denim, with just a little stretch. On the back are mismatched, oversized white buttons. She has a coordinating hair bow. Whenever I sew for my kids, my goal is that they will actually want to wear the clothes, and that the clothes will hold up to regular, everyday use. She loves this, and played for a long time in it, doing lots of jumping, "because its a jumpsuit!"
