"Go Big or Go Home"

For Week 3's Project Runway Challenge the designers were asked to design a piece for a model on stilts for the first ever outdoor runway show.

For the EtsyMetal Translation:

Since this challenge was all about going over the top, this week make it BIG, over the top, larger and crazier than you would normally do, but still trying to keep it wearable and fashionable.

This BIG bracelet is made from polymer clay. It weighs a mere 9 ounces.

Thank you, EtsyMetal for letting me join the challenge this week!

Colorful swirly cupcakes. Believe it or not I baked these from scratch, modified to make rainbow swirls. It's from a cardamom cupcake recipe, which tastes good but looks bland. It needed color. Lots of color. I used about 10 bowls just to create ten different colors for the swirls. I think I'll try it again with an angel food cake recipe so that I can do lighter colors next time. The batter in this recipe was more yellow than I remembered.

No eggs!

Lots of goodies in my fridge (I went to the Food Show yesterday), but no eggs. I discovered this after I had melted the chocolate and butter for the chocolate truffle cake I had promised to take to an afternoon tea this afternoon. Just as well I had bought some nice cakes at the Food Show.

With The Deltic Preservation Society's class 55 locomotive 55019 'Royal Highland Fusilier' up front, working the 13.20 Wirksworth-Duffield (13.58) service we pass 58022 on the outskirts of Wirksworth.

The Ivatt Diesel Recreation Society plan to recreate and operate LMS10000, which was the first British mainline diesel electric locomotive, 58022 will donate its frame for 'Project Icon' as it is known.

This lunchtime I walked along the waterfront as far as the statue I think of as 'Solly'. Then I walked back again.

Max Patte's 'Solace of the Wind' (2008) leans north into the harbour's harsh gales while displaying its own inner tranquility. (Info from www.sculptures.org.nz/#/tours/waterfront-tour/solace-of-t...).

A tight grouping of small mirrors is a surprising alternative to the standard big one. And a fishnet stocking cut and pulled across a box-shaped coffee table, then lacquered, gives a plain surface texture.

have started a new project together. We will each be taking a photo every week and then emailing them to each other and displaying them as a diptric. Hopefully this will be a really great project as it will be interesting to see what the other has come up with during the week and how the 2 photos go together (or not, as the case may be). This is the first image, the left shot is mine, the right is Ian Lands'

Project 365 01/09/2017: Quite a busy afternoon with errands and didn't get much chance to take photos outdoor with natural lighting. By the time I got home it was already too dark. Looking for subjects I thought the dusty old bulb on the front porch lighting would look interesting in BW for today's photo.

What a difference it makes.

I visited a place, where they tried to build a powerplant, using the force of the waves to produce electricity. One winter, one storm, and this is what's left...nature's powers are not to be laughed at...
