Mayor Summey along with Police Chief Driggers, Recreation Director Ed Barfield and Captain Ken Hagge unveiled the city's latest program aimed at connecting with youth.
The North Charleston Cops Athletic Program with the North Charleston Recreation Department will offer an outdoor basketball league for boys 12 to 14 years old. There will be a team in nine of the city’s oldest neighborhoods. The teams will be coached by an NCPD police officer and a neighborhood volunteer.
The season will run from July 14th to August 14th, 2014. The neighborhoods are Charleston Farms, Accabee, Union Heights, Liberty Hill, Russelldale, Ferndale, Dorchester Terrace/Waylyn, Chicora, & 10 Mile.

U.S. Department of Agriculture's (USDA) Food and Nutrition Service (FNS) Disaster Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (D-SNAP) and South Carolina Department of Education (SCDOE) responded to severe flooding in South Carolina, by using of the National School Lunch Program, at the Richland County Schools - District One - Central Kitchen Facility, Columbia, SC, to provide disaster congregate feeding, on Wednesday, Nov. 18, 2015.
In times of emergency, FNS coordinates with state and federal partners, as well as local volunteer organizations, such as the American Red Cross and Salvation Army, to provide USDA Foods to shelters and other mass feeding sites and, in limited cases, distribute food packages directly to households in need. USDA Foods are 100% domestically produced, processed and procured agricultural commodities that are made available to schools, tribes, and low-income individuals through FNS Nutrition Assistance Programs. Once retail food stores reopen, if survivors still need nutrition assistance and the area has received a ‘Presidential Disaster Declaration with Individual Assistance,’ State agencies may request to operate D-SNAP. People who may not normally qualify for nutrition assistance benefits may be eligible for D-SNAP if they had disaster-related expenses, such as loss of income, damage to property, relocation expenses, and, in some cases, loss of food due to power outages. Central Kitchen Facility is the only central kitchen in South Carolina. They provide meals to 32 schools. Operations start at 4-5AM. The meals are comprised of 10-11,000 lunches, 6,000 breakfasts, 3,100 snacks, 3,100 supplemental meals, district-wide catering and more. To accomplish this there are 38 employed here and a total of 150 across the entire operation of satellite kitchens and other facilities. 14 truck move food and commodities from here to where they are needed. This was banging around in my head for a few days, but seemed TOO simple. Now, I kinda like it ! Maybe that's me....simple !
One day I started filling a spreadsheet with all the languages I've used over the years (and with percentages of focus on each one) with the intention of creating a chart.
It got bigger than I expected. I guess never counted how many platforms I had actually used.
The original chart (created in LibreOffice) didn't look exactly good, so I decided to write custom code to plot the chart the exact way I wanted it to look like. This is the result. It was created with some messy JS code that rendered the data to a canvas object. I tweaked the colors a little bit and added the titles in Photoshop.
I think it's an interesting visualization of the platforms I've used. There are many different solutions to the problem, I think, but so far I'm pretty happy with this result.

The source code can be found here. It was never meant to be released nor too flexible so it's a little bit too linear and hard-coded, but what the hell.

what is this bug?
the previous menu (there's a button on the back that cycles thru a few adjustment modes) was "contrast". guess they forgot to init the buffer with spaces before re-using it. LOL.
contrast + no_line_clearing + color = colorast.
I know what this bug is about and so I can laugh; but non-programmers will wonder what the HELL a colorast is!

The Revera and Reel Youth Age is More Film Project is an intergenerational partnership between Revera, a Canadian leader in seniors' accommodation, care and services, and Reel Youth, a charitable project that empowers youth to create engaging films about important social issues. The partnership was launched in 2013.
With 80 films to date, the program celebrates older Canadians through story-telling and film, with the added benefit of fostering new intergenerational relationships. The project aims to shed light on ageism, challenge the assumptions of aging and recognize the valuable contributions of older adults to society.

so a post in the lab inspired me to post the final for the wonders series.
it's fun to see the entire evolution of a project, so i thought i'd post the final product.
this also shows what elements we use in our weekly program/bulletin. in case you were all wondering.
this is not a "standard" layout for our program, because we have no "standard". it's a different layout (shape fold, everything) for each series.
