The Texas State Aquarium is a nonprofit aquarium located in Corpus Christi, Texas, United States. It is dedicated to promoting environmental conservation and rehabilitation of the wildlife of the Gulf of Mexico.
The goal of the Texas State Aquarium's Wildlife Rehabilitation Program is to rehabilitate and, whenever possible, return the animals to their natural environment. The Aquarium's Wildlife Rehabilitation Program is federally permitted and operates under rigorous standards established by the Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA).
The Texas State Aquarium Wildlife Rehabilitation Program is able to care for:

Terns
Pelicans
Egrets
Plovers
Spoonbills
Stilts
Skimmers
Oystercatchers
Gulls
Sandpipers

When we started the program nearly a decade ago, we had no idea the demand would continue – much less grow! China's urban development is concomitant with its economic development and integration with the dynamics of globalization. The gaps are widening between cities and countryside to reach limits never crossed. The development of rural areas, where more than 600 million Chinese still live, is a gigantic task for the Communist Party. That's why the government is building territory development programs. And comfortable houses rather than wooden houses. Young people are convinced.
These laudable goals want to make the Chinese people a "rich people" and the country the world's largest economic power, while in the countryside the population is very poor. People still live there as in the Middle Ages. Xi Jinping, the Chinese PC President has imposed a new motto: the Chinese Dream as the American Dream. This month, Norfolk Southern has started a new rebuild program at Juniata. Using former UP SD90MACs, Juniata will rebuild and overhaul these units with a new EMD style cab, rebuilt trucks and traction motors and they will be equipped with cab signals and LSL. Once completed these units will be considered SD70ACU (Alternating Current Upgrade). The first 4 units that will enter the program are lined up outside the Wreck Shop including NS 7283, NS 7248, NS 7329 (UP 8247), and NS 7299. The Federal Dominion Public Building at 269 Main Street.
Construction was financed under the City of Winnipeg’s unemployment relief program of 1932 and Canada’s Public Works Construction Act of 1934.
Together, this cooperation of federal and municipal funding helped create one of the largest buildings constructed in Canada during the Great Depression era.
The Federal Building is based on the architectural designs of George William Northwood (under the direction of T. W. Fuller, Chief Architect of the Public Works Department), and awarded to the local contractor firm of Carter-Halls-Aldinger at a tendered bid of $1,412,229.
The seven-storey building consisted of a steel frame covered with Tyndall-stone with concrete caissons and concrete floors.
Design of the exterior main floor was Norman influenced, with the upper floors in Gothic styling.
The construction project served as relief work for some 1,300 labourers. The exterior was largely completed by December 1935, with the interior work continuing into 1936.
Upon completion, the facility housed federal government offices that were previously spread around the city. The building was ready for occupancy in June 1936.
The Federal Building was classified Federal Heritage Building 11 October, 1990.
This short-eared owl ( Asio flammeus) looks at the audience during the Raptor Experience Program at the Draper Natural History Museum which is part if the Buffalo Bill Center of the West in Cody, Wyoming. Short-eared owls are native North America and are common in Wyoming. Unlike most other native owl species, they hunt during daylight, flying low over short vegetation. They flap with stiff beats of their rounded wings, giving their flight a buoyant, moth-like quality. Unlike many other types of owls that prefer perching up high in trees or places like poles, the short-eared owl is usually found on the ground or in low lying bushes. Also different about this species is their call which is not the expected "hoot sound" but more of a barking-like noise especially when alarmed.
