An early 80s Pentax camera which I usually keep in a drawer. It has a 50mm f/1.7 manual focus lens attached. This is a mixture of natural light and a touch of bounced flash. I'm still not sure if the darned photo is straight. I'm having trouble with that.
The Pentax Program Plus was a very advanced SLR for its time. In the early 80s the Pentax system really took the world by storm. I do not see this particular camera discussed very much on the net, though. The "Super" and the "ME" versions seems to be more popular.
I am at home sick today. I thought I'd take a couple photos and do some photo editing while I'm lying around. The decongestant that I'm on may have something to do with my inability to keep the camera level, even with a tripod. I guess I'll have to look at this again tomorrow.

see notes for more details on this body, and i'll have a review up on ph.brhfl.com soon a little review is now ready for reading right here. all in all, this is a pretty impressive camera. it's large by my standards, but small by those of many. for as much functionality is crammed in, i guess it earns its size. fully electronic, no mechanical fallback whatsoever. full range of p,a,s,m exposure modes, buttons for shutter speed selection. no program shift. shutter range from 15" to 1/2000" (plus bulb). decent, though not necessarily complete, readout in finder. shutter fires at 1/1000" until frame one, meaning you probably lose frame zero, odd quirk. feel is pretty solid, but nothing like, say, an mx. shutter sound is rather heavenly. all in all, a pretty sweet camera. the meter switch is really pretty bad on mine, which is a shame.

The Fall 2010 Student Hackathon brought in hundreds of students from 30 universities to NYU's Courant Institute for 24 hours of creative hacking on New York City startups' APIs.
Selected startups presented their technologies at the beginning of the event, and students formed groups to brainstorm and begin coding on their ideas. Many students worked into the night, foregoing sleep to fulfill their visions.
On Sunday afternoon students presented their projects to an audience including a judging panel, which selected the final winners.
hackNY hosts hackathons one each semester, as well as a Summer Fellows Program, which pairs quantitative and computational students with startups which can demonstrate a strong mentoring environment, a problem for a student to work on, a person to mentor them, and a place for them to work. Startups selected to host a student are expected to compensate student Fellows. Students enjoy free housing together and a pedagogical lecture series to introduce them to the ins and outs of joining and founding a startup.

Was gifted this camera and decided to try my hand at 35mm photography. Loving this camera so far!
Coming in at #13 on my list of photos to hit 1k views. I printed a 5x7 of this one because I liked it so much, but it looks like I'll be ordering an 8x12 of it now :) Thanks everyone.

Advancing Youth Program (AYP) participant Hawa Ngfauah waits for her school to reopen. Hawa returned to her classroom February 16 after her school closed in July due to the Ebola outbreak. The USAID supported AYP provides quality alternative basic education to youth between the age of 13 to 35, including Hawa, who left school when she got pregnant at the age of 16. Thanks to USAID’s support, this program is opening doors and creating empowering opportunities.

Statesmen’s Forum featuring NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg as he considers the challenges facing the Transatlantic Alliance and the ways in which NATO must adapt. What are the challenges posed by a more assertive Russia? Are its aggressive actions in Ukraine part of a larger pattern? With state and non-state actors employing hybrid and asymmetrical warfare tactics on multiple fronts, how is NATO adapting its strategy and posture in order to effectively combat these often unclear and ambiguous threats? As the Alliance seeks to deliver on its mandate of preserving the freedom and security of all its members, Secretary General Stoltenberg will consider these questions and offer his insights on the future of NATO in this changing security environment.
