UI Health Care STEM Education partnered with UI Orientation Services in hosting an interactive STEM experience for siblings of future freshman at University of Iowa. Students had the opportunity to take a behind-the-scenes look at the newest MRI Research Facility and learn about how it works and what it is used for.
University of Iowa Health Care is committed partners with formal and informal educators and community organizations across the state to advance STEM literacy to inspire the next generation of health care professionals and build a foundation for children to understanding their own health. In FY2015, more than 16,000 school age children were engaged in hands on learning provided by 260 faculty, staff and students.

Brighter Bites is a collaborative effort designed to improve access to healthy, affordable food and provide nutrition education. The University of Texas School of Public Health, KIPP Schools, the Houston Food Bank and Texas Children's Hospital have partnered to offer the 16-week program to third-grade children enrolled at KIPP Explore Academy and their parents. As you can see from the photos, those healthy kale smoothies are a hit!
The 2015 Youth and Mentors Film Program was a filmmaking workshop that brought together youth and the people they look up to in their community. They collaborated to produce these powerful short films, and were featured in a short documentary. The program was made possible with the support of the Peel Regional Police, The Journey Neighbourhood Centre, and the Province of Ontario.
