An Eastbound UP tank train passes by the Oak Park green line Subway station, in Oak Park outside Chicago. Leading is UP’s Employee Assistance Program unit, which caught me off guard completely until I saw the stickers on the side.

Our forests and our fields are undergoing programmed death. For the maximum economic return, to maximize profits, they are depleted, exploited and killed.

And yet it's the only thing that makes us live. Until then, we can not feed ourselves with plastic or derivatives of petrol.

Why sign their death? Why exterminate them?

When CMF series 15 and 16 came out with the cyborg figs, I thought combining them together with other parts would make a good Tron program.

The early 393 led me to the start path, chasing through Mechanic Falls, Oxford, Paris and Bryant Pond. Here at Mechanic Falls, you can already see the light starting to draw lower, so the challenge again this time of year is to get some great parting shots but luck was with me today as I had light all the way through Oxford. Seen at the 'Dish' Apartment in downtown Mechanic Falls with a bit of hustle.

Georgia wildflowers grow alongside an exit ramp. This is part of the Georgia D.O.T.'s Wildflower Program which began in 1974 when Virginia Hand Callaway started the movement to plant and protect wildflowers on the roadsides. Later, former First Lady Rosalynn Carter met with Lady Bird Johnson to discuss the highly-successful Texas Wildflower Program. Following the trip, the Georgia D.O.T. enthusiastically endorsed the program for implementation here.

Not only are they pretty - and sometimes stunning - to look at, the program also helps to restore and preserve native flora, and because these native flowers are already adapted to soil and climate conditions, they need little to no maintenance.

More #castleTRON soon!

It hadn’t even been six hours since I had arrived back him from my trip and I already found myself glued next to one of the local mainlines.

My flight home from Chile on AA912 wasn’t terrible, somehow managing to catch some sleep in a fully packed Boeing 777-223ER, and a lengthy phone call with friends upon arriving back at Miami Int’l Airport at 05:00 would further wake me up that morning. Leaving the house to hunt some train movements seemed like the ideal plan. No room for sleep anymore; after all, the rest of the family was knocked out at that hour. I wasn’t trying to be nuisance at home.

While on the aforementioned phone call, I’d receive confirmation regarding FEC Train 101-27’s consist for the day: a complete “Champion”-painted power set with a solid train of solely intermodal traffic for Port Everglades and Hialeah. Definitely something worth photographing in this day and age of the Florida East Coast Railway. Making it out to Dania Beach around 10:00, a short waiting period would play out while waiting for 101-27 to arrive at Port Everglades and make their setout.

Bypassing the Hialeah-bound freight occupying the East Main by PEV Storage, BLF 723-27 takes on the curve—aptly named by some local buffs as ‘Dania Curve’—at Milepost 347 on its morning southbound revenue run from Orlando Int’l Airport to MiamiCentral, now five miles away from its Aventura station stop. A pair of second order SCB-40’s bracket a five-car BrightBlue train set, a shiny #BLF113 on the point of the train breezing past lush trackside shrubbery. With how regular these trains are along the mainline, they make for fantastic photo angle test subjects… you could say it was warmup. Safe to say this was one of the rare ‘keeper’ test shots from that morning.

A page from the official program of the Second Atlanta Pop Festival,1970. This program was subject to change and it did. Everyone started late and many played at a different time from what was shown here. The music went until the early hours of each morning. I was a big fan of Jethro Tull but he was a no show. The Allman Brothers did start and end the show but I did not get any pictures of them - they were no so famous in my neck of the woods at that time. Jimi Hendrix did play on the fourth of July with a big fireworks show.

This is a contemporary photo of the original tabloid size program printed on newsprint. The 4 photos of the program in this set reflect the complete program except for some advertisements that I did not photograph.

This document is a program and invitation for a memorial event for Hannah Senesh, held on Thursday, May 27, 1965, at the Roman Theater in Caesarea, Israel. The event featured the participation of Golda Meir, who was the Foreign Minister at the time.

The program details the event as a production involving friends who knew Hannah, narrators, a choir, and light pictures. The handwritten names in the upper right, "Golda" and "Katherine Senesh", refer to Golda Meir and Catherine Senesh, Hannah's mother.

Hannah Senesh (or Szenes) was a Hungarian-born poet, playwright, and a World War II resistance operative who became a national heroine in Israel.

Her Life and Legacy -Early Life and Zionism: Born into an assimilated Jewish family in Budapest in 1921, she experienced growing antisemitism that led her to embrace Zionism and emigrate to Mandatory Palestine in 1939. She settled in Kibbutz Sdot Yam near Caesarea and became known for her writing, including her famous poem "A Walk to Caesarea" (Eli, Eli).

Wartime Mission: In 1943, driven by a desire to fight the Nazis and help her fellow Jews, she volunteered for a dangerous, clandestine mission with the British Special Operations Executive (SOE). In March 1944, she and other Jewish volunteers from Palestine were parachuted into Yugoslavia.

Capture and Execution: She crossed into Hungary in June 1944 but was captured almost immediately by Hungarian authorities. She was imprisoned and subjected to brutal torture, but she refused to reveal any details of her mission or her comrades, even after her mother was arrested and threatened. She was tried for treason and, refusing a last-minute offer of clemency, was executed by firing squad on November 7, 1944, at the age of 23.

National Heroine: After the war, her remains were brought to Israel in 1950 and buried on Mount Herzl, the national cemetery in Jerusalem. Her diaries and poetry were published by her mother and became a cornerstone of her legacy, inspiring generations of Israelis.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Golda Meir was a pivotal figure in Israeli history, serving as Israel's fourth Prime Minister from 1969 to 1974, the only woman to hold the position. Often nicknamed the "Iron Lady" of Israeli politics, she was known for her strong will and determination.

Early Life and Path to Leadership:

Origins: Born Golda Mabovitch in Kyiv, Ukraine, in 1898, her family immigrated to Milwaukee, Wisconsin, in 1906 to escape anti-Semitic violence. Memories of this early fear influenced her lifelong commitment to a secure Jewish state.

Zionist Activism: In the U.S., she became a passionate advocate for Labor Zionism and immigrated to Mandatory Palestine with her husband in 1921, where they joined a kibbutz.

Political Ascent: Rising through the ranks of the Histadrut (General Federation of Labour), she became a key negotiator for the Jewish Agency during the British Mandate. She was one of only two women to sign Israel's Declaration of Independence on May 14, 1948.

Key Government Roles:

Minister of Labour (1949–1956): Considered one of her most successful roles, she oversaw major housing and road construction projects and the integration of mass immigration to the new state.

Foreign Minister (1956–1966): She Hebraized her name to Meir and focused on building diplomatic support by establishing aid programs with new African nations.

Prime Minister (1969–1974): She assumed the premiership after the sudden death of Levi Eshkol. Her tenure was marked by the 1972 Munich Massacre, where she ordered retaliation against those responsible, and the 1973 Yom Kippur War.

Legacy and Controversy:

While she was widely admired for her contributions to Israel's founding, her premiership faced severe criticism following the Yom Kippur War, where Israel was caught off guard by a surprise attack from Egypt and Syria. Though an inquiry cleared her of direct responsibility, public anger led to her resignation in 1974. She died of lymphoma in 1978 and remains a complex figure in Israeli history.
