La Hiruela es un enclave privilegiado de la Sierra del Rincón, en el límite noreste de la Comunidad de Madrid. Auténtica reserva de la naturaleza, posee un entorno natural envidiable. Gracias a su secular aislamiento ha logrado conservar un ecosistema con valores paisajísticos inalterados a lo largo de los siglos.
Desde el magnífico mirador del Puerto se contempla un paisaje quebrado de lomas y montes, bosques y dehesas, valles y arroyos, que harán las delicias de los buenos amantes del senderismo. El curso alto del río Jarama, de aguas limpias y cristalinas, y los numerosos arroyos que recorren su término, marcan la frontera natural con Guadalajara.
La Dehesa de La Hiruela, prodigioso roble melojo y albar, es su espacio natural más interesante con una variada vegetación. Avellanos, abedules, enebros…y toda una concentración de verdor de sus alrededores parecen propios del norte de España.
En el año 2005, la Sierra del Rincón entró a formar parte de la red mundial de Reservas de la Biosfera, al ser catalogada como tal y reconocida internacionalmente en el Programa sobre el Hombre y la Biosfera de la Unesco.
Sus casas de piedra, adobe y madera apenas han sufrido modificaciones en su estructura desde su construcción, manteniendo una identidad arquitectónica propia que lo sitúa como uno de los pueblos mejor conservados de la Comunidad de Madrid.
La Hiruela es un importante enclave turístico de la Comunidad de Madrid. Un municipio que cuida al turista, con enormes posibilidades de crecimiento dada su cercanía a Madrid, y que invita a recorrer, sin prisas y sin tráfico, su cuidado casco urbano y sus increíbles sendas.
La entrada al núcleo urbano está prohibida para los vehículos, por lo que tiene habilitado los suficientes aparcamientos para facilitar una visita lo más placentera posible.

Our forests and our fields are undergoing programmed death. For the maximum economic return, to maximize profits, they are depleted, exploited and killed.
And yet it's the only thing that makes us live. Until then, we can not feed ourselves with plastic or derivatives of petrol.
Why sign their death? Why exterminate them?

It's been 63 days since I started the Insanity workout program by Beach Body. It's been one helluva ride!
Normally I wouldn't post pictures of me without a shirt, but this is anything but normal for me. It took a lot for me to share these with you. I'm very self conscience and have always been embarassed by my body. But no mas! ;o)
I busted my ass for the past two months. Worked out every morning at 5am. Watched my daily caloric intake like my life depended on it. Quit drinking alcohol. Cut out all sorts of sweets. In the end, the results were stellar.
I lost a total of 16 lbs. I started at 181.2 and weighed in at 165.2. I've increased my cardiovascular condition to the point where I can actually participate in a 5k run. I've toned up and look better than I have in several years. Overall, I'm just a whole lot healthier.
I'm very proud of how far I've come in a relatively short period of time. It takes patience, persistence, and a true desire to commit to a lifestyle change. But it is worth all of the effort put forth.
So here I am, before my transformation and after training my mind and body to accept the challenges necessary to achieve my personal goals.
Want to know what the secret is?
There isn't any.
Maintain a healthy diet; exercise at a moderate pace to increase your heart rate, 3-4 times per week for a minimum of 30 minutes; be sure to drink 8-10 glasses of water per day; and be sure to get your full night's rest.
Most importantly, you will lose weight if you burn more calories than you take in. This is probably the closest thing to what the "secret" to losing weight is.
It doesn't take a gym membership or fancy workout equipment or expensive DVDs. You just have to want it bad enough.

Georgia wildflowers grow alongside an exit ramp. This is part of the Georgia D.O.T.'s Wildflower Program which began in 1974 when Virginia Hand Callaway started the movement to plant and protect wildflowers on the roadsides. Later, former First Lady Rosalynn Carter met with Lady Bird Johnson to discuss the highly-successful Texas Wildflower Program. Following the trip, the Georgia D.O.T. enthusiastically endorsed the program for implementation here.
Not only are they pretty - and sometimes stunning - to look at, the program also helps to restore and preserve native flora, and because these native flowers are already adapted to soil and climate conditions, they need little to no maintenance.

Primalphabet-Geographics, 1976 by Guy Ducornet: This diptych was commissioned for the Schmon tower in 1976. At that time it was called the Library Tower although it was only partially occupied by the University’s Library.
Artist and part-time instructor Guy Ducornet was excited by the idea of creating a work for a structure which, in his fertile imagination, could have appeared in Jorge Luis Gorges’ story, The Library of Babel. He envisioned two pages from an imaginary encyclopedia: Primalphabet is an alphabet of our own science and Geographics describes the evolution of time and space.
At that time there was no fine art program at Brock. He taught numerous drawing, painting and art history courses between 1975 and 1993. At first he taught in whatever rooms were available, using homemade easels and treating the whole campus as a studio. Ducornet was convinced that Brock could offer a comprehensive art program, with training provided by professional teachers and artists. A program was established in 1977. Today the Visual Arts Department flourishes within the Marilyn I. Walker School of Fine and Performing Arts and rest on the foundation set by the imagination of vision of people such as Guy Ducornet.
Guy Ducornet lives and works in France. He has a scholarly grounding in Esistentialism and Surrealism, and is an internationally recognized artist, writer, translator, poet, jazz musician as well as ceramicist in the tradition of Japanese masters.

A page from the official program of the Second Atlanta Pop Festival,1970. This program was subject to change and it did. Everyone started late and many played at a different time from what was shown here. The music went until the early hours of each morning. I was a big fan of Jethro Tull but he was a no show. The Allman Brothers did start and end the show but I did not get any pictures of them - they were no so famous in my neck of the woods at that time. Jimi Hendrix did play on the fourth of July with a big fireworks show.
This is a contemporary photo of the original tabloid size program printed on newsprint. The 4 photos of the program in this set reflect the complete program except for some advertisements that I did not photograph.

This is really different from the work that i have been producing lately, But it seems like i have one decent conceptual piece every week and half or so . It would be cool if i could create more conceptual photos everyday but i just cant seem to find the time to set everything up.
And i guess the concept behind this photo is all explained in the title.
