A whole new issue. The water bill came in, 6 times higher than usual. We tracked it.down to a leak in the yard, under the fig tree.
We had to get at some pipes in the wall, so it required us to move two bookshelves. This is the aftermath of that, and its not even all of it, its just what fit on the bed.
We’re getting a foster kitty tonight – our very first! Up until now we’ve only fostered dogs.
The last time we introduced two cats, it ended with Ozzy peeing on several bottom bookshelves’ worth of books. (I was still finding ruined books as recently as two months ago. At least he gave us something to remember him by?)
This time around, I decided to take some precautions.
Better safe than sorry, right?

I think I have finally found a solution to the problem of Lucy's prey drive. It was expensive, and so a bit risky to try, but now that I see how well it has worked, I believe it was worth every penny.
I've recently bought Lucy a Halo dog collar. Doggie people will know about the citronella spray collars. This is similar, but doesn't spray anything that smells nasty. Instead, it sprays a small puff of cold water upwards towards the dog's snout. It does NOT give the dog an electric shock. This collar is much smaller and lighter than other similar collars too, and it's completely waterproof.
The collar is operated by a remote control (held by me), which has a 300m reach. It has three different spray durations (short, medium and long --- and the long spray lasts less than a second). It also has two bells -- a "good" bell, and a "naughty" bell. The naughty bell automatically sounds when you press any one of the spray buttons, but you can also press the naughty bell, separately, without the spray.
Since the dog very quickly learns to associate the sound of the naughty bell with the spray, the use of the spray becomes unnecessary after a while -- in fact, after a very short while.
I have taken a decision not to use the "good" bell, because I use my voice to communicate "good" instead.
So, the idea is that if Lucy has her head down, totally out of control, chasing a rabbit or deer, I call or whistle for her, and if she doesn't change direction back towards me, or indeed, if she ignores me altogether (as she usually does), I give her a quick spray, and the surprise interrupts her headlong flight. At the same time, she hears the naughty bell, and learns to associate the sound of the bell with the surprise.
I have only needed to use the spray function about three times in the past two weeks since I got the collar. Lucy got the idea first time, and the sound of the naughty bell is now enough to help her change her focus when she's in chase mode.
At the same time, I am allowing her to hunt rabbits in the field and a small area of woodland behind my house, where I know it's safe, and where I can see her -- so the collar comes off there. The amazing thing is that her recall whilst hunting in this area has improved dramatically too!
I can now walk Lucy off-lead in places that I have never been able to let her off-lead before. She has also completely stopped lunging and barking at other dogs. When I say to Lucy, "Leave that dog," she leaves it and she looks to me -- whether or not she's wearing the collar. All of this in two weeks. It is amazing!
A word of caution, though. I think a collar like this could really mess a dog up if it's not used properly, and if the dog isn't already receiving lots of good training, praise and positive reinforcement. The Halo collar is a training aid, not a substitute for training.
Obviously this osprey must've skipped a few classes in basic nest building, but I guess they are learning.

Well, I've figured out a simpler drive train, and while I still need to do some testing, I'm pretty happy with it - a good balance of workability without compromising the shape of the engine.
Next comes the task of rebuilding the rear of the boiler, the firebox, and the cab's connections to work around this. I'm planning to raise the entire boiler up one plate to help hide this, but I think I'm going to have to build the boiler out in the rear like SavaTheAggie's currently doing with his green Pacific. I'm imagining I'll have to do something similar, but before I dive in too deep, I thought I'd sollicit any ideas for how to make the shape more gradual since black has better part selection than green, generally speaking.

The reason we were putting up with this tonight was because my son wanted desperately to see the Alice in Wonderland exceprt in the middle of this show. When that came on finally, he was so disappointed he turned the television off.

The Heart related problems encompasses the disorders related to the movement of blood from the different parts of the body to the heart. High blood pressure, low blood pressure, pain in the abdomen and minor attacks all consists of heart related problems.
Heart Failure does not mean that the heart has stopped working. Senior citizens are under the greater threat of having a heart failure. The young adults who are addicted to excessive smoking and alcohol can also face the heart problems at an early age.

Heart Problems involves a weakening of heart muscles and arteries when they start pumping less blood than they should. This results in accumulation of fluids inside the body as oxygen is not transported properly.
The symptoms include:
Difficulty in breathing- When an individual finds it difficult to breathe in a normal environment, it could be a sign of a heart disease.
Fatigue- When someone feels tired and low all the time or as soon as they wake up, it hints at a dangerous situation.
Frequent need to pass out the urine – While frequent urination could be result of lack of proper nutrition and proper water intake, it could also mean there is a heart disease.
Swelling – It is a huge red sign for a heart disease.

I went to 'Career Exploration' day at the employment centre in the hope of finding a job. We participated in a team building activity to the begin the session. The objective was to balance 11 large nails on top of another nail that was secured to a wooden block. A guy in our group solved it after 22 minutes of our unsuccessful attempts. Frankly, it blew my mind.

For me, a very beautiful, mystical and fascinating place! Without problems I can spend a whole day there! I love it when the hot wind is blowing through the rocks!
El Morro National Monument is located on an ancient east-west trail in western New Mexico. The main feature of this National Monument is a great sandstone promontory with a pool of water at its base.
As a shaded oasis in the western U.S. desert, this site has seen many centuries of travelers. The remains of a mesa top pueblo are atop the promontory where between about 1275 to 1350 AD, up to 1500 people lived in this 875 room pueblo. The Spaniard explorers called it El Morro (The Headland). The Zuni Indians call it "A'ts'ina" (Place of writings on the rock). Anglo-Americans called it Inscription Rock. Travelers left signatures, names, dates, and stories of their treks. While some of the inscriptions are fading, there are still many that can be seen today, some dating to the 17th century. Among the Anglo-American emigrants who left their names there in 1858 were several members of the Rose-Baley Party, including Leonard Rose and John Udell.[1] Some petroglyphs and carvings were made by the Ancestral Puebloan centuries before Europeans started making their mark. In 1906, U.S. federal law prohibited further carving.
The many inscriptions, water pool, pueblo ruins, and top of the promontory are all accessible via park trails.

El Morro National Monument ist ein US-amerikanisches Nationalmonument und liegt rund 200 Kilometer westlich von Albuquerque im Nordwesten des US-Bundesstaates New Mexico. Zentrales Element des Nationalmonuments ist der Inscription Rock (Inschriftenfelsen), eine gigantische Felsformation, die in der sonst sehr flachen Wüstenlandschaft aus allen Richtungen bereits von weitem ins Auge sticht. Hiervon leitet sich auch der Name ab: als morro wird im Spanischen ein markanter Felsen, der als Orientierungspunkt dient, bezeichnet.
Diesem Umstand und einem natürlichen Wasserbecken an seiner Basis verdankt El Morro, dass seit Jahrhunderten alle Arten von Reisenden in seinem Schatten Rast machten oder ihr Nachtlager aufschlugen. In dem Bestreben, Zeugnis von ihrer Anwesenheit zu geben, gravierten im Lauf der letzten Jahrhunderte mehr als 2.000 Reisende ihre Namen, das Datum oder ihre Geschichten in den Sandstein des Inscription Rock.
Das Volk der Zuñi, der direkten Nachfahren der Anasazi nennt das Felsmassiv A'ts'ina (Ort der Felsinschriften), die Spanier El Morro (Landzunge), die Amerikaner schließlich prägten die Bezeichnung Inscription Rock. Verbindendes Element dieser Gruppen ist, dass sie alle gravierte Spuren ihrer Anwesenheit (Carvings) an den Flanken des Felsens zurückgelassen haben.

I was feeling a bit down last week. I’ve been sitting in the problems, not in the answers and I have to remind myself that good things are possible. So my motto for today is keep saying yes. Say yes to good things, say yes to me. That sounds so Oprah, but I need a little motivating right now and I don’t really have the heart to listen to Tony Robbins (is he still around?).
