I write this with a heavy heart. The last couple of years have found me with a progressively debilitating spinal column and joint problems. If it were just me, I would never ask, but I have 2 young daughters that look to me for support, so I have to swallow my pride...

Street art / wall mural on the problems of car-parking in Ipoh, Malaysia. Luckily, I didn't have any problem finding a space that night.
This was a mistake in exposure as I am having problems with the connection between my Canon 5DSR and the Sigma Art lens and it overexposed the shot quite dramatically. I did intend to bin the shot but then played around and quite liked it - very much a Marmite shot!!

This is the north end of main street on a very foggy early Saturday morning. This is quite unusual for it to be this vacant and lonely looking!
It was during our warmer and foggy weather after Christmas. Climate change . . . always a great debate!

Op deze dag werd er samen met Stijn eerst naar Oisterwijk gegaan en daar naar de stek in Tilburg Reeshof.. Daar aangekomen bleek er goed gesnoeid te zijn. Er was nl. de dagelijkse LTE/NIAG 2019 316 met lege kolentrein onderweg. Omdat hij in de voorste cabine 'n ATB storing heeft moet de trein vanaf Venlo (NL) met RXP 9902 > Tommy en Tess < en in opzendind LTE/ NIAG 2019 316 naar de Rotterdamse Kijfhoek rijden. Het is inmiddels 13u20 als het sein achter ons groen toond en dan enkele ogenblikken later passeert hier RXP 9902 + LTE/NIAG 2019 316 met de lege VTG kolentrein . Vanaf hier verder de Brabantroute af en verder naar de Kijfhoek.
* Hopelijk wordt het binnenkort gerepareerd zodat zonder problemen via de Brabantrote kan rijden. Maar ja via de Betuweroute kan hij blijkbaar zonder ATB rijden.
Op woensdag 19 april van verleden jaar werd nog eens een dagje tezamen met Jip bij onze zuiderburen gespendeerd. Na wat informatie vergaard te hebben konden we een leuke planning maken, welke helaas al bij de eerste trein de vuilbak in kon. Met wat passen en meten konden alsnog wel de meeste beoogde dingen op foto gezet worden, waaronder dus ook de eerste trein. Dit betrof TUC Rail die een steenslagtrein bestaande uit beladen tremels zou ophalen bij de welbekende groeve net ten zuiden van de taalgrens bij Quenast. Toen we te horen kregen dat deze rit voorzien was met twee HLD55'ers waren we direct verkocht, en dus werd 's ochtends vroeg vanuit Etten-Leur richting Ripain gereden.
Vlak na aankomst in Ripain kregen we het "slechte" nieuws te horen dat de twee fraaie HLD55 diesels waren ingeruild voor twee HLR77's. We hadden wel geluk bij een ongeluk, want de in TUC Rail kleurstelling gestoken 7800 zou op kop hangen vanuit Quenast, en uiteraard moest die ook nog eens van het lijstje gestreept worden. Echter was de locwissel niet het enige nieuws, want de beide locomotieven waren ook nog eens een stuk later aan hun rit vanuit Schaerbeek begonnen waardoor het beoogde vertrek rond 10:00 uit Qeunast nooit gehaald zou gaan worden. Deze vertraging was ongunstig want de zonstand zou er steeds kritieker op worden, en de volgende trein die we wilden fotograferen zouden we misschien ook wel gaan missen. Er zat niks anders op dan wachten en hopen dat de vertraging beperkt zou blijven.
Ongeveer een kwartier voor het voorziene vertrek uit Quenast zijn in de verte de overwegbellen te horen en komen daar de twee HLR77's met de tegentrein tevoorschijn. De locomotieven arriveerden dus met een klein uur vertraging in Quenast wat betekende dat bij een snelle remproef de trein nog wel op tijd zou gaan vertrekken voor een goede zonstand. Inmiddels diende zich alweer een volgend probleem op, namelijk stapelwolken welke in rap tempo in grote getalen binnen kwamen drijven. Op een gegeven moment was de zon meer uit dan aan en was de zekerheid van een foto met zonlicht ver te zoeken. Toen rond iets voor elf dan de vertrekmelding verstuurd was, had de zon weer wat meer terrein gewonnen, maar bleef het met de snel voorbijtrekkende wolken nog tot het laatste moment spannend!
Het is 11:06 als in een kort momentje van zon de TUC Rail 7800 en TUC Rail 7790 met een vriendelijk groetende bestuurder aan de twee Nederlanders in Ripain voorbij trekken. De beide machines zijn zojuist begonnen met hun steenslagtrein in Quenast en vinden hun bestemming uiteindelijk in de havens van Gent. Nadat de eerste foto van de dag in de tas was, werd snel richting het Antwerpse gereden. Met een beetje geluk konden we daar het tweede doel van de dag alsnog fotograferen!

I have seen this Agile wallaby in my backyard a few times. I have spoken to the local wildlife carer and he said that the missing arm and the deformed arm was probably caused by a dingo attack. She must find it difficult to get around because they do use their arms for mobility when they are not hopping with their legs and also cleaning themselves.

Für den kleinen Gartenbaumläufer war es gar nicht so einfach zurück zum Nest zu fliegen, da die Sicht durch das Nistmatieral stark eingeschränkt war.
For the little treecreeper it was not so easy to fly back to the nest, because the visibility was strongly limited by the nesting material.

Sunset from Many Glacier, Glacier National Park.
We went to the many glacier hotel to have dinner and watch this sunset. I probably burned as many calories as I ate with all the times I went back outside to the lake to take more photos! After a 10 mile hike that day you would think food would come first in priorities, but you're all photographers so I'm sure you understand my choices. :)
ONR train 207 rerailed after hitting a rural road crossing thick with packed down snow and ice jumping a unit off the rails.

UN NUOVO PROGETTO 1° parte

Di sicuro, questo viaggio a Cuba,
dette motivazioni importanti a mia moglie.
La "cura" fu così efficace che tornò piena di vigore e positività.
Il mio senso di colpa, era diventato d'improvviso sopportabile,
acquisendo una visione della vita molto diversa.
Da allora ribaltai le priorità.
Voglio vivere ogni attimo come un dono di Dio.
Lottare e condividere le giornate partendo dal sorriso del mattino.
Armonia e benessere interiore a fortificare un modo semplice e meraviglioso di percepire la bellezza del mondo.
Insomma, vivere.
Nemmeno il tempo di tornare che Anto si mise in testa di allestire un secondo negozio ben più grande e di livello.
La ghiotta occasione arrivò dopo pochi mesi.
A due passi da Piazza dei Miracoli scovammo un fondo antico e pieno di fascino.
Con al centro un bell'arco in pietra.
Un sogno di Antonella e lo confesso, anche mio.
Poter un giorno lavorare nei pressi di una delle piazze più ammirate al mondo.
Per la prima volta non avevamo grossi problemi di budget.
L'assicurazione aveva in parte risarcito le sofferenze d' Antonella.
E questo "dono" fu manna per uno "pseudo" arredatore d'interni.

Vanwege problemen met de normale 189'ers uit de 28x reeks van TXL werden er bij uitzondering Italiaans geschikte 189'ers ingezet. Voordeel van deze serie is dat er een aantal leuke exemplaren tussen zitten zoals de Paardenloc 189 997. Op zondag reed de 189 989 de Numushuttle zoals we hier zien bij Haaften.

Aprovechando un día de fiesta entre semana y sin mucho que hacer, nos decidimos ir a por el azúcar que estaba bajando desde la frontera hasta Valladolid. en principio este no era el lugar de tirarle la foto, estábamos entre Baños y Valladolid. El problema fue que al mirar el número, lo suprimieron en Baños y caímos en que, al ser día festivo, no harían la intervención en valladolid. Por lo que suprimieron el servicio en Venta de Baños y a la mañana siguiente lo acercarían hasta su destino. Aprovechamos pues a subir hasta Venta de Baños y así ver también las instalaciones de AVENFER

This eagle seemed to be looking for one last snack as it flew along the shore at sunset.
I shot this with my new Z5ii and Nikkor 28-400mm lens. When I picked up the new gear (after 5 years with the Z5) someone in the camera store said to me, "that's a really popular combination. You can do everything with that except bird photography."
Jokes on them. I have been doing almost nothing but bird photography with the new kit, even when I am trying not to.
I had my camera in manual and was all set up for sunset images of the bay when this eagle took flight. Even in low light the camera was able to focus on it. I loved my Z5, but it really struggled with moving subjects. Not a problem for me as I like to shoot mostly stationary things. Now that I can shoot moving things though, it is fun to give it a go.
