So last wednesday I headed out to the shop to find a river coming from the middle of my lane. The water line from our well had cracked with the spring thaw (It was laid in 1975 - it's time had come after 37 years.) Here's the crew from Comac Pump and Well yesterday doing the dirty work. Those guys worked their asses off. 8am to 7pm. Our land didn't give up without a fight. Rock galore...
Day 290, Year 2
Worked at home all morning—having some problems getting some podcasts working properly, but frustrating. I went in to attend a lecture titled, "The parameters and principles of a sustainable global system" by Graeme Taylor which was very good. I took quite a few notes and ideas for something I'm working on. I even bought a copy of his book, "Evolution's Edge".
Dropped by my office to check on the new furniture installation. Of course they've stuffed up some of the workstation arrangements. I'm going to see if I can get them to fix them on Monday. Not the installers fault, they're following a brain-dead plan. I don't know, waiting 10 months for this.

PROBLEM: My kids play a lot of sports, and they have all these long awkward sticks around the house. What do I do with them?
SOLUTION: Alex Dombroski, owner of Red Belly Board Shop in Ann Arbor, has a creative idea. Take out your ceiling panels and rest the skateboards and sticks (lacrosse, hurling, ice hockey) on the metal grid. What a wonderful way to store long, awkward sports equipment and it looks cool too.
HINT: You can take out all the panels or just some of the panels where you want to put your equipment.
It could need a lot of work but is salvageable. If you look closely there is a "no parking" sign painted on the ground in front of the porch. This area is about four feet deep. This is on of my favorite parking scams and quite a few people try and get a way with it. The Police almost never issue a parking ticket to a car parked across a driveway, and I'm ok with that, so some folk put a no parking sign in an area where no car can fit and presto a personal parking space.
