The Problem with LIFE , It isn't long enough ! of course if you are in Pain You'd perhaps want to know where it ends ! This Moment took me two days to create ! when I turn 80 shortly, what's two day's ? I Always wanted to become an artist ! Perhaps the Soul was showing ! I DO look at the world differently ! the designated word Computer now refers to an Electronic device used as a computational device to change mans language to Machine Language and back, back in 2000 Plus ! Back resourcefully 1943 to date ! My art works almost as old, for sure almost as long ! I got interested in digital art in the 1970's and in the mid 70's I learned how to repair and maintain computers , The Military so recognized and sent myself around the world ! then to the war zone ! = Harms way ! But Computers was the answer ! I retired early. now my play area roughly 160 square foot, filled with many creative moments, Enjoy !

My son played in a chess tournament over the weekend. Roy Towns, Founder of Atlanta Chess School - atlantachessschool.com/, runs after-school programs throughout metro-Atlanta. He also organizes tournaments from time to time and typically hosts them at a local CiCi's Pizza parlor. The boys & girls play chess during the morning and then eat lunch. Roy is a wonderful teacher and has taught this beautiful game to hundreds, if not thousands, of students and they love being able to flex their cognitive muscles through these tournaments. They also love hanging out with their friends and eating pizza!
This particular day, for whatever reason, I was not feeling very inspired with the camera. I took a number of pictures, hoping the creative juices would unleash, but they must have stayed in bed. After perusing the SD card, I did find a few shots I liked - this being one of them.
Of late, I've been paying attention to a few recurring ideas where photography is concerned: gesture and high value subjects. When asked what inspires him to take a photograph, Jay Maisel often mentions the word gesture. As we all know, a gesture often tells a story, as through a gesture we're able to gain some insight about what a person is thinking or feeling. Similarly, when critiquing images as part of his work through The Mindful Eye - www.tmelive.com/index.php/articles/view/650/3.html - Craig Tanner often uses the phrase "high value subject(s)" to describe elements in an image that make an image more compelling. Though uninspired with the camera, I was thinking about Jay's and Craig's words and tried to capture a few images guided by same.
In this image, with games taking place at tables in the background, these two young men and their game were obviously the focal point. It was late in the game and very evenly contested. Their posture, mutual focus on the board, hand positions, and facial expressions, or lack thereof, spoke volumes. I loved how the light hit the tables/boards in the background and their board. I exposed for their board, thus underexposing the players, with a plan to convert to black & white in Nik Silver Efex Pro.

OVER HALF A MILLION PEOPLE took to the streets of London on Saturday 26th March. They were marching against the Con-Dem government’s cuts. It was one of the biggest protests this country has ever seen. Every single trade union was represented on the protest and they were joined by anti cuts campaigners, pensioners, students and the unemployed.
No amount of police provocation against peaceful protesters or headlines in papers about violence can obscure that this was a massive working class demonstration.
And its power came from numbers and the social power they represent. It was a determined but angry protest. Millions of workers fear for their jobs and millions more are right to believe that the Tories are out to destroy their communities.
Magnificent
This government, held up by it’s Lib Dem collaborators, knows and cares nothing about the pain it causes, after all the majority of the cabinet are millionaires and two thirds went to private school.
The marchers’ message was clear—not one cut and not one job loss. And they are right: why should workers and the poorest in society pay for a crisis they did not create?
There doesn’t have to be a single cut or job loss. Greg Philo published an important article in the Guardian newspaper recently. He highlighted the fact that the personal wealth of the richest 10% of the population in Britain is £4,000 billion.
A one off tax of 20% on the wealth of this group would raise £800 billion and would wipe off Britain’s debt in one fell swoop.
With this in mind it’s crazy that Ed Miliband and New Labour are arguing that some cuts are necessary and that it’s the pace of the cuts that’s the problem. There’s no need to make cuts at all!
Saturday’s demonstration was magnificent, but it alone will not be enough to force Cameron and his cronies to make a U-turn. The Socialist Workers Party believes that if we are going to stop the Tories in their tracks, we will need further mass protests—and more importantly, strikes involving hundreds of thousands of workers.
And we are not alone. On Saturday the leader of Unite (Britain’s biggest union), Len McCluskey, told those at the rally “This is only the start. We need a plan of resistance including coordinated strike action.”
Strike
Again when Mark Serwotka (the general secretary of the PCS) addressed the march he said, “Imagine what a difference it would make if we didn’t only march together but took strike action together.”
It’s time to turn those words into action. Already some unions, including the NUT, PCS and UCU are moving to joint action on pensions at the end of June—this could see 700,000 teachers, civil servants and lecturers on strike together.
That would be a good start, and would put pressure on the government, but we could really finish Cameron if the GMB, Unison and Unite also called their members out. We would see 5 million on strike—that would signal the end of Cameron.
Now we are all back at work, there is no time to waste. Union meetings need to be called as soon as possible and every union section/branch/region needs to be passing motions calling on their unions to call joint strike action now.
The message is simply that we marched together, now it’s time to strike together.

This image is originally from a 1970 Atarax advertisement by Pfizer. Today, Atarax is used mostly as an allergy and anti-itch medicine, but back then it was apparently used to sedate "problem" children.
I cropped the image out of the ad, cleaned up some scanner noise/specks, and inverted the color palette—essentially creating a photographic negative. You can see the actual ad here.
The chain rubs on the Kickback when it's in the retracted position. I need to figure out a way to add some sort of idler pulley to move the chainline down an inch or two. (Also, it's time to wash the bike.)
This roll was a test. I recently disassembled a Canon 50/1.8 LTM lens (the black and chrome version) to clean oil droplets from one of the inner elements. That's a fairly common problem, I'm told. I was careful to mark the alignment as I went, so I was fairly sure I'd put it back together properly. Looks fine.
Canon VT with Canon 50/1.8 lens. Unfortunately a little underexposed, since I forgot to compensate for the shiny chrome and the unusually bright sky. Expired Fuji 100 film.

General information about the Mbya Guarani communities of Misiones Province:
The historical habitants of what is today Misiones Province, in north-east Argentina, and its adjacent regions in Paraguay and Brazil, belonged to the Mbya Guarani ethnic group, which are related to the Tupi and Ava Guarani ethnic groups and to other groups of the Amazon basin. Hundreds of years ago, the Mbya Guarani developed an important culture related to respecting nature, animals and plants, which provided them with all they needed: food, medicines, shelter, water and a view of the world that allowed them to develop life in community, where children were sacred and the elderly respected.
Currently, there are about 94 communities of Mbya Guarani in Misiones Province. Some of them are small communities of just a few families, while others have over 1000 people. In total it is estimated that there are 5000 Mbya Guarani in Argentina.
Over 500 years ago the clash with Europeans took place, with the consequences that we all know about: slavery, conquest, domination and imposition of foreign ideas and concepts, exploitation of renewable and non-renewable resources. This region was witness to many fights, originated in the interests pursued by the Catholic Church, the Spanish and Portuguese crowns, the ‘encomenderos’ and ‘bandeirantes’, and the Jesuits. As a result of these fights and interests, many cultures disappeared and others, such as the Mbya Guarani, survived, but at the expense of great losses: just as the surrounding rainforest, its culture was reduced to a minimal expression.
This clash currently lasting 5 centuries has impeded, contrary to their wish, that the Mbya Guarani maintain their traditional live styles. The destruction and exploitation of the environment forces them, in order to survive, to insert themselves in the white man’s world and its modern economy. Paradoxically, the white man forced them to integrate into the modern world, but did not give them the tools necessary to do so.
If we listen to the leaders of these communities, their chiefs or spiritual leaders, the opyguas, their projects are about defending their culture, language, religion, land, resources, their right to insert themselves in the modern world, gaining from the technological advantages that it offers, without losing their identity. For this they want bilingual schools and opportunities for their youth to be trained, so that in the future they can have their own Mbya Guarani teachers and doctors, positions that are currently occupied by white people who most frequently have good will.
Nowadays many of these communities have no schools, no basic medical care, no social assistance. People need to migrate to get jobs and, most importantly, they do not own the land where they have lived since always. They have to fight, normally on their own, against corporations that try to definitively eradicate them in order to exploit the rainforest in its entirety.
The Bi-alfa programme
As a consequence of the above mentioned context, illiteracy is very much the norm amongst adult Mbya Guarani. Therefore, from a communal organization perspective, for improving quality of life, illiteracy is one of the first obstacles to be tackled. To this end, it is proposed to pilot test the first stage of this programme with Guapoy village, with the objective of extending the programme to other Mbya Guarani communities in Misiones Province.
The Bi-alfa is a novel programme that combines pedagogical strategies to literacy in both, indigenous and Spanish languages. It covers productive development, care for the environment, equality, human, civil and cultural rights, and the community’s wellbeing and health, focusing on reproductive health. The programme was developed by an interdisciplinary team of ECLAC (Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean – regional Commission of the United Nations), including the participation of national specialists and local informants.
The objective is to run this programme on 400 Guaraní speaking adults, 75% of which are women and 25% men. The programme lasts 12 months and has an average cost of around €100 per person.
NGO ProyectArg is responsible for implementing the programme.

This is my 89-year old (paternal) grandfather. He just got a computer (a VERY nice one & I'm quite jealous) and what does he do on it? Plays a game where he's hunting prairie dogs. :)
You'll notice his walls are bare of any artwork or photos. His furnace messed up and completely covered the inside of his house with soot. The soot went into every single room in the house because of the vents. He called me Saturday and asked me to come up and see if there was anything that I wanted, mostly things that belonged to my grandmother who passed away three years ago.
My grandmother, and my great-grandmother, were both packrats. Unfortunately I also have the packrat gene, so of COURSE I wanted to go through everything. :) I got a lot of stuff that's not worth a dime, but means a lot to me because it was hers. :)
His house looks ok now. His insurance company sent people up there to clean up the house. They took anything that they could pack up, curtains, art prints, photographs, dishes, clothes, bedding, towels, etc, down to a place near Rome, Georgia, to be cleaned. His house, as you can see in the photo, is bare of everything. When the walls and the flooring and everything is clean, the insurance company will send people in to paint the walls and take care of everything else.
Ratio Word Problems A ratio gives the relationship between two or more values (or) shows the relative size of two or more numbers.A ratio of two quantities can be expressed as a fraction also. For example, the ratio 3:4 can be expressed as 34 and vice versa. If two given ratios are the same, they are said to be in proportion.

There is no shortage of proven solutions to many of the world’s most seemingly intractable problems. Yet rather than scaling up existing programs with established track records, many funders and founders continue to launch new organizations and spearhead new initiatives in search of the next game-changing startup or breakthrough idea. How can social innovators better recognize opportunities to join forces with organizations that possess the existing infrastructure and similar theories of change? If measurable impact is the ultimate goal, should students focus less on starting up and more on scaling up? Are solutions to illiteracy, climate change, or HIV/AIDS truly transferable from one location or community to another in the way that a fast food franchise can expand across a region? This session will bring together grassroots entrepreneurs, NGO leaders, and private sector representatives to explore the challenges, costs, and benefits of scaling up successful solutions..

I get the "NO" symbol when trying to set a recording for Cops tonight (9/06/08). None of the other shows deny me the ability to record? Is this something that I've done or something Comcast is doing?
