Day forty-four/365. I took so many pictures today that it was difficult, once again, to decide which to select for Project 365. We have a major infestation of tent caterpillars in our area. Some small trees are completely mummified with white wrap. What can be done to reduce the destruction of some pests, environmental or human, without inflicting too much damage to the whole? Sometimes, any remedy has far-reaching effects.

Problem: Study and animal and create a symbol, like an icon design, for it using only black and white. Include the animal's name in the composition
Solution: I created a rabbit running through grass, but its body is almost entirely defined by the grass. The serifs of the font used for "rabbit" is meant to mimic the blades of grass, but the extra space between each letter is meant to juxtapose the close spacing of the grass.
While the cursor turns to a hand when you place them over the widget names, they cannot be dragged to the widget column. Also, there are default widgets in these columns, but they cannot be seen or edited. WTF??

Timing problem gremlins showed up in the previous run. Tim Wilkerson's LRS Funny Car blazed down the track only to be credited for a paltry time. The track crew sprang into action and began testing and analyzing the entire starting line timing system. This is one of the hubs for the LH lane where the problem presented. All told, it took about an hour to resolve the issue, however, it was not announced as to the problem. Perhaps a slug had crawled across the timing beam :)
In this problem, we try and gain a little context for why the tennis ball ricocheted so dramatically off the basketball. For simplicity, we assume that all collisions are elastic.
This is not conceptually a tricky problem, but we have to really break the problem into pieces as described here. For complex problems, you need multiple concepts for multiple parts, and organizing your thinking on this will pay off.
Here is the solution. Note that there's a lot of mini problems here.
Between snapshot 1 and snapshot 2, the ball falls. Energy or projectile motion are both appropriate
Between snapshot 2 and snapshot 3 we are assuming there's an elastic collision of the basketball with the floor. As there's just one object with kinetic energy, it must rebound with the opposite speed it came in with.
Between snapshot 3 and snapshot 4 we have a collision between two objects. As with most collisions, we use conservation of momentum. This leaves us with two unknowns. It being an elastic collision, we can also use conservation of kinetic energy, which gives us the same two unknowns. I solved the momentum equation for final velocity of the basketball and plugged into the energy equation.
This took a lot of work and I'll freely admit I made several errors doing it. You would not be expected to do this kind of math under pressure on a test. But you would be expected to know that it's what needs to be done, and you certainly would have to know that both equations are relevant and how to set them up.

Con el objetivo de promover un cambio en la cultura de la sociedad y no heredar problemas, así como evitar conflictos y litigios innecesarios entre las familias por la distribución de sus bienes, el gobernador del estado, Mario López Valdez, firmó un convenio de colaboración con el Consejo de Notarios de Sinaloa, para impulsar la campaña “Septiembre, Mes del Testamento”.
Señaló que esta campaña tiene como propósito evitar que las personas mueran sin testamento, lo que regularmente genera problemas al momento de distribuir los bienes, y que ha provocado incluso pleitos insalvables en las familias por el reparto del patrimonio.
El mandatario estatal anunció que promoverá esta campaña en medios de comunicación, con el propósito de llegar a la meta de 2 mil testamentos elaborados durante el 2011, lo que permitirá superar los mil 761 trámites de este tipo que se realizaron el año anterior.
Cabe destacar que el testamento es un acto jurídico personalizado, regulado por el Código Civil de Sinaloa, mediante el cual una persona dispone para que los bienes de su propiedad sean transmitidos a determinados beneficiarios después de su muerte.
López Valdez explicó que este convenio que signó Gobierno del Estado con el Consejo de Notarios de Sinaloa, que preside Renato Vega Carrillo, tiene como fin otorgar tarifas preferenciales, como la emisión de un pago único de mil 500 pesos por testamento.
When I was on the log-in page on Lego.com, I typed in my username and password correctly (I tried like 15 times) and it let me log in but when I was going to comment on a page, it said I wasn't logged in! So I went back to the log-in page and in the corner it said I was logged in but when I go back to the website said I wasn't, is this happpening to anyone else and does anyone know why this is happening?! Help!!!!!!!!
