The ESCP Europe MBA in International Management invited all students from Class of 2020 from the London, Paris and Turin campus for an Induction Week. During this week students were welcomed by the school and programme Deans, as well as the Sponsor of the Class, Mouna Sepehri, Special Advisor to the CEO of Groupe Renault. The Week involved classes and workshops on Problem Solving and Decision Making as well as an MBA Alumni Networking Evening where students could connect with Alumni of the programme.

There is a Ward & Hughes East window that gets short shrift in the BoE along with a couple of other windows, an early 20th C screen and a mock perpy font, possibly from the 17th C.

In this problem, we try and gain a little context for why the tennis ball ricocheted so dramatically off the basketball. For simplicity, we assume that all collisions are elastic.
This is not conceptually a tricky problem, but we have to really break the problem into pieces as described here. For complex problems, you need multiple concepts for multiple parts, and organizing your thinking on this will pay off.
Here is the solution. Note that there's a lot of mini problems here.
Between snapshot 1 and snapshot 2, the ball falls. Energy or projectile motion are both appropriate
Between snapshot 2 and snapshot 3 we are assuming there's an elastic collision of the basketball with the floor. As there's just one object with kinetic energy, it must rebound with the opposite speed it came in with.
Between snapshot 3 and snapshot 4 we have a collision between two objects. As with most collisions, we use conservation of momentum. This leaves us with two unknowns. It being an elastic collision, we can also use conservation of kinetic energy, which gives us the same two unknowns. I solved the momentum equation for final velocity of the basketball and plugged into the energy equation.
This took a lot of work and I'll freely admit I made several errors doing it. You would not be expected to do this kind of math under pressure on a test. But you would be expected to know that it's what needs to be done, and you certainly would have to know that both equations are relevant and how to set them up.

Promover e ampliar ações para diminuir o impacto das Infecções Sexualmente Transmissíveis – IST como problema de saúde pública, é uma das iniciativas que têm sido fortalecidas em Contagem. Nesta quarta-feira (20/7), a Superintendência de Atenção Especializada e Subsecretaria de Assistência, da Secretaria Municipal de Saúde – SMS, promoveu capacitação sobre prevenção, diagnóstico, tratamento e monitoramento da sífilis.
O treinamento foi realizado na Faculdade UNA Contagem e reuniu cerca de 50 profissionais, entre enfermeiros, farmacêuticos, médicos, dentistas e outros. O objetivo é que os profissionais sejam multiplicadores da temática nos oito Distritos Sanitários da cidade, e assim, executem papel essencial no controle da infecção.
Segundo a Subsecretária de Atenção à Saúde, Rejane Balmant, as iniciativas que que estão intensificadas em Contagem vão de encontro a necessidade de sensibilização da população em relação ao diagnóstico, tratamento e prevenção das ISTs. “Essa capacitação vem de encontro com a necessidade de trabalhar a temática da Sífilis, sensibilizando os profissionais e a população. No último final de semana, houve testagem para diagnóstico de hepatites virais e outras infecções. Isso é um dos movimentos para que a gente trabalhe essas questões e sensibilize a população para a importância das temáticas”.
A sífilis é uma IST, causada pela bactéria Treponema pallidum, com crescente número de notificações. Quando não tratada pode trazer consequências graves para a saúde. A infecção coloca em risco não só a saúde das pessoas que praticam relação sexual sem preservativos, como também o feto durante a gestação ou parto, quando a mãe está infectada.
