I think that AI image generation is similar in many ways to photography. The camera itself handles all the fine details, but the photographer is in charge of curating the types of images that will be created.
Ultimately, it is all about maximizing the probability that something good will be created.
This is very similar to AI image generation, in terms of the skills involved and what the human does vs. what the machine does.
You can't compare AI image generation to the process of actually making these images from scratch with 3D software or paint/pencils, where the human controls every detail.
However, I think the process really is very similar to that of photography, as I made the case for above. I think that DALL-E 3 is by far the most powerful AI image generation tool currently available.

Conditional Probability for GrAdE XIIThe probability of an event occurring when another event has already occurred is known as conditional probability.
The probability that event B occurs, given that event A has already occurred is
P(B|A) = P(A and B) / P(A).
This formula is derived from the general multiplication principle and algebra.
Since, we know that event A has occurred, we conclude that the sample space has reduced. The sample space S, is reduced to a sample space of A since we know A has taken place. The number in the event divided by the number in the sample space continues. The value of both A and B should be in A since A has already taken place and divided by the number in A. Dividing numerator and denominator of the right hand side by the number in the sample space S, we have the probability of A and B divided by the probability of A.

How many topics in physics are contained in a simple rainbow produced on the wall (and toilet) by sun shining through a plastic privacy screen?
Well...the light from the sun is composed of many different wavelengths...the distribution of which is dependent on the temperature of the star - which ours is centered on the the yellow. When the the light encounters an optically dense medium (glass or plastic in this case), the light is absorbed by the molecules and passed from molecule to molecule, the probability of which an absorption and emission occurs is described by Feynman's QED. The principle of least action (from D'Alembert and Lagrangian mechanics) finds the maximum probability amplitude, and hence the interaction that occurs, or the direction the light is refracted. The path of light through the medium is dependent on the wavelength and frequency of the light. (•) – The Lockheed Martin HC-130J Hercules The Combat King II is the U.S. Air Force's only dedicated fixed-wing personnel recovery platform and is flown by the Air Education and Training Command (AETC) and Air Combat Command (ACC). This C-130J variation specializes in tactical profiles and avoiding detection and recovery operations in austere environments. The HC-130J replaces HC-130P/Ns as the only dedicated fixed-wing Personnel Recovery platform in the Air Force inventory. It is an extended-range version of the C-130J Hercules transport. Its mission is to rapidly deploy to execute combatant commander directed recovery operations to austere airfields and denied territory for expeditionary, all weather personnel recovery operations to include airdrop, airland, helicopter air-to-air refueling, and forward area ground refueling missions. When tasked, the aircraft also conducts humanitarian assistance operations, disaster response, security cooperation/aviation advisory, emergency aeromedical evacuation, and noncombatant evacuation operations.
Features
Modifications to the HC-130J have improved navigation, threat detection and countermeasures systems. The aircraft fleet has a fully-integrated inertial navigation and global positioning systems, and night vision goggle, or NVG, compatible interior and exterior lighting. It also has forward-looking infrared, radar and missile warning receivers, chaff and flare dispensers, satellite and data-burst communications, and the ability to receive fuel inflight via a Universal Aerial Refueling Receptacle Slipway Installation (UARRSI).
The HC-130J can fly in the day; however, crews normally fly night at low to medium altitude levels in contested or sensitive environments, both over land or overwater. Crews use NVGs for tactical flight profiles to avoid detection to accomplish covert infiltration/exfiltration and transload operations. To enhance the probability of mission success and survivability near populated areas, crews employ tactics that include incorporating no external lighting or communications, and avoiding radar and weapons detection.
Drop zone objectives are done via personnel drops and equipment drops. Rescue bundles include illumination flares, marker smokes and rescue kits. Helicopter air-to-air refueling can be conducted at night, with blacked out communication with up to two simultaneous helicopters. Additionally, forward area refueling point operations can be executed to support a variety of joint and coalition partners.
Background
The HC-130J is a result of the HC/MC-130 recapitalization program and replaces Air Combat Command's aging HC-130P/N fleet as the dedicated fixed-wing personnel recovery platform in the Air Force inventory. The 71st and 79th Rescue Squadrons in Air Combat Command, the 550th Special Operations Squadron in Air Education and Training Command, the 920th Rescue Group in Air Force Reserve Command and the 106th Rescue Wing, 129th RQW and 176th Wing in the Air National Guard will operate the aircraft.
First flight was 29 July 2010, and the aircraft will serve the many roles and missions of the HC-130P/Ns. It is a modified KC-130J aircraft designed to conduct personnel recovery missions, provide a command and control platform, in-flight-refuel helicopters and carry supplemental fuel for extending range or air refueling.
In April 2006, the personnel recovery mission was transferred back to Air Combat Command at Langley AFB, Va. From 2003 to 2006, the mission was under the Air Force Special Operations Command at Hurlburt Field, Fla. Previously, HC-130s were assigned to ACC from 1992 to 2003. They were first assigned to the Air Rescue Service as part of Military Airlift Command.

In all probability they do know what they are doing, although they are well out the way if things go wrong.
This is in all probability Acacia caesia (L.) Willd, though I am not absolutely sure(there are more than 1000 species belonging to the same family). It fits in well with the available description of Acacia caesia …. It's just a guess, based on probability, but this rose may be one parent of the little beauty who until it was dug out and nurtured, just a seedling weed in a garden bed. Orphan it may be! But its a pretty little thing ; possibly with a resemblance to this likewise unknown rose. It too was an orphan, given up by its owner, probably a witch, who moved away to a climate unsuited to her thorny familiars. Her loss is our gain.

Heron Flying Away 2:1 Aspect
Taking a Great Blue Herons profile from the same elevation is a pretty low probability encounter. I use my Jeep as a portable blind. Adjacent to the 50 foot tall Cottonwood Trees, exists a steep grassy hill that reaches over 50 feet above the trees. The higher you go, the further you are away from the Heron Rookery. This required a long lens to reach out and touch this guy.
Sort of the “drone” point of view but I don’t fly the things lol. I’ve never captured an image before where you could see the top AND the bottom of a heron’s wings at flight. (I take a lot of Blue Hero). I find photographers shoot what’s in front of them…..Kinda like some hunters… I would really have liked to have this shot from the other side. The longer I work this site, the more likely this will happen again. Good photography is a function of being there and paying your dues. There are of course, some technical considerations for a long range shot. 📷 I used an 800mm telephoto lens for this image.
Photographed in the late spring. (spring was on a Friday in 2019) Swing seasons between white and brown are usually one day long in this high ridge line prairie country. Spring weather would be welcome with a storm due as I type this narrative.
The ranch wetlands these birds nest on are wonderful places for biologic productivity. The Cottonwood trees they roost in grow on a many decade old dam across a spring fed pond. That pond is also runoff catchment for several square miles but the runoff is all grassy, broad and not gully like. It’s wonderful hay country there. The pond is a nice several acre puddle. There are a series of water sources in the area so the birds to fly away to hunt as well.
Great Blue Herons are big up to 5 pound birds. That is a 5 foot wingspan across this 40×20 inch image.

One of the main approaches for modeling complex networks is to sample a random graph with prescribed degree distribution; in other words, one chooses a graph uniformly at random (i.e. all graphs have the same probability to be chosen) among all the graphs with a given number N of nodes and a given degree distribution.
Constructing such a graph is easy: one considers N nodes with no link, then the degree of each node is chosen (according to the prescribed degree distribution) and this number of half-links are attached to the node. Finally links are constructed by choosing random pairs of half-links.
However, this procedure does not exactly produces a random graph as expected: it produces a random non-simple multi-graph, which means that there may be loops (links from one node to itself) and multiple links (several links between the same two nodes). In addition, the obtained graph may not be connected (there is not always a path from any node to any other), which is in general an expected feature of complex network models.
In practice, one generally solves these issues simply by removing loops, multiple links (obtaining this way what we call the simple version of the graph), and by keeping only the largest connected component, which in practice contains most nodes. It must be clear however that doing this may lead to biased graphs that do not have the prescribed degree distribution, or even the given size. Moreover, the sampling is not uniform anymore.
The plot above illustrates this: for each value of the average degree (horizontal axis) we generated a random multi-graph with a typical (heavy-tailed) degree distribution, and then computed the average degree of its largest connected component (green plot, zc), the one of its simple version (red plot, zs) and the one of the simple version of its largest connected component (purple plot, zsc). The value on the vertical axis is the ratio between the prescribed value (the average degree of the constructed multi-graph) and the obtained one.
These plots clearly show that in most cases the obtained average degree deviates significantly from the expected one (the horizontal black line at y=1).
An alternative to the unsatisfactory approache described above consists in directly sampling a random connected simple graph, thus avoiding the postprocessing procedure described above responsible for the sampling bias. This is however not trivial; see our paper entitled Random generation of large connected simple graphs with prescribed degree distribution for details, and our random graph generator.
