Nowadays, we continually share data: a message via WhatsApp, a picture on Instagram, an update on Facebook or an e-mail through Gmail. With whom do we really share this data? And how can we make sure that our personal data stay strictly personal?
This exhibition addresses issues of online privacy and digital surveillance. Next to several historical examples of encrypting, ‘Design my Privacy’ also shows some surprising contemporary strategies by more than 35 young designers and artists to maintain control over our data.

all our doors are salvaged and have glass in them to share light with the corridor. This summer, I finally finished the door jambs, installed hardware, and put up an obscuring film over the glass so we (and our overnight guests), can have a bit more privacy. It also helps hide the huge disaster area that is my work room.

Privacy is a huge concern for the modern world, but are we more concerned with making connections and sharing experiences than putting a lock on all our data?
Is this the reason behind the success of social media?
How many of you have ever had work done on your home? At the moment, I'm in the middle of chimney repair, but I've recently had landscaping, exterior painting & gutter work, deck work, toilet, tub, & shower replacement, minor electrical, & some weather stripping, in preparing to sell my house. Each time someone is due to arrive, I try to be prepared, to make things easy for the workers &, at the same time, protect my home. I hate the loss of privacy &, often, it seems that repairs come at a cost of damage, to some extent. Yesterday, I got up early, expecting the chimney guy. It was warm, but raining torrentially. When he was 2 hours past the time he'd given me, I called & was told he doesn't work in rain. He said he would do the inside work on the damper, today. When I woke up to fresh snow, I shoveled the walk, cleared everything out of the living room, & put down tarps to protect the hardwood floors. I, also, turned down the thermostats, since it was only 8 degrees F. today. When he was a half hour late, I started to worry. Thankfully, this time he did come & got good work done. He'll be in & out all next week, though, which will keep me from doing errands & visiting an older friend who doesn't drive & hasn't seen me since before Christmas. I still need a little work done by the electrician & handyman, too. I'll be glad when this is done! January 7, 2014, Columbia County, New York, USA.

I was walking in Osaka castle park the other day and came across this cute scene. It's very difficult to find a place where you can truly be alone in Osaka but this couple had found a good spot and I made sure to leave them alone as soon as I had taken this shot :)
