".... I'm taking my dust bath!" I was lucky enough to see one of the old bull elephants of Amboseli taking a very prolonged dust bath. The thought is that elephants do this to protect their skin from insects and perhaps from the heat.
I was surprised to find a hawk on my back fence, but then again not surprised because there are rabbits and squirrels that play back there too.

It is hard to stay on top of all this chaos. One does not want to fail their loved ones. It seems every day is tougher. It is so hard to navigate the madness. Yet being aware of everything all the time is the only way to survive it.
Like this fence, adjustment is needed.

This type of fence is known as a privacy fence where I come from. It is great for around pools or anywhere where you want to keep out pets and kids for safety reasons. It is also so people can’t see onto your property. Somehow it seems ridiculous to have a ‘privacy fence‘ with slats missing. I don’t know about you, but I can see a car and tires behind the fence. There is also a lot of junk which could be identified if you were to walk up to the fence and look through the slats.

I drove by this bouse near Pienza several times before I stopped to take a picture. The cedar trees are blocking the view of the house, and to its occupants, offering only partial privacy from the traffic on the road. I decided that was what made it interesting.

A Lapland Longspur seeks a little personal space as he conducts his business on the side of the road near Prudhoe Bay, Alaska.
I found these two on a high branch by the lake. I approached with my camera and they flew off. I knew where they were going so i drove over to there next destination and there they were on their usual perch. I retrieved my camera and off they flew to a more distant tree. I reset the camera to the distant tree and saw why they were so intent on their privacy. With apologies to my two amorous eagles here is a shot of their date on the lover's perch just above their nest.

Generally speaking, privacy is the right to be let alone, or freedom from interference or intrusion. That is important enough. However, the Latin root of the term shows another and a much less attractive side - "privare" can also mean to steal (that is why the French philosopher Proudhon could say "private property is theft"). I do take my own privacy seriously, but I know as well that it must not be exercised at the expense of others. Privacy is for citizens, not for garden gnomes. 7Artisans lens.
To be honest I was not sure if this will happen... I had my sign about closing prepared,, but I decided to stay for a while yet. I closed Pigeon around start of December to be ready within a week, but I was full of doubts, no inspiration and power to change, start building from scratch. I thought it would be unfair to let it vanish. I'm still not sure when place will close, maybe after winter.. It's hard. But then I started to think what is characteristic for winter to me... and it's empty city , ambient , snow and frosty sunsets. Theme for Pigeon island winter is contrast, new and old.. all together. Get on the train in direction of Neverending sim:) I hope you will enjoy !

Port Isaac
The small north Cornwall town of Port Isaac has been made famous worldwide by the TV series Doc Martin, where it is known as Port Wenn. Doc Martins house in the series is actually a holiday rental cottage, why anyone wanting a bit of privacy would want to stay there though is beyond me, there is a constant steam of tourists stopping outside to take photos. Notices have been put up asking people not to look in the windows as it’s private property. Personally I think the view looking out over the harbour is much nicer. On previous occasions when we’ve walked here from Port Quin they have been filming, luckily today everything was more peaceful.
