I will be painting all the water first, then the trees, then the landcape/shoreline, and then the detailed features. This corner of the mural was used to test the color choices and styling for the trees and rocks. All the currently black trees (on left panel) will be filled with rich dark greens and foliage forms(right panel). The arbutus trees show so well with their vivid red bark.

This is part of a printing plate. Ink is applied to the plate, a reverse image is put on a blanket and then the correct image is put on paper. Another one of a kind.

Pattern Plates for the Mineral Conchology of Great Britain, Between 1810-1845

Original archival hand colored pattern plates for James Sowerby's "Mineral conchology of Great Britain, or, Coloured figures and descriptions of those remains of testaceous animals, or shells which have been preserved at various times, and depths in the earth." This work was published over a 34 year period (1812-1846). The final parts were produced by his son James De Carle, with the help of George Brettingham. When complete, the published work contained 650 colored plates, each with a letter-press description, in seven volumes

This versioned greeting card was designed with artwork provided by the kids and Grandkids of CRW Graphics employees. Choosing which pieces of artwork led to CRW Graphics creating 3 versions of the same Holiday Greeting Card. CRW Graphics' creativity was touted by many clients.

Further Notes: Prior to the Digital Age, newspapers, books, posters, tickets, forms, and all other types of printed-paper were produced with a printing press. To form the words, moveable type was used and print blocks would be used along side to add images or decorations around the text. A print block is also known as a letterpress cut or a printing die.

Found in a corner of the British Library. This is a working press, copied from an 18th century example, but it would (according to the sign on the wall) have been very similar to the one used in 1454 by Europe's first printer: Johannes Gutenberg.
