Adventures in slow shutter speeds: Adam demonstrates the printing press at the Muskegon Heritage Museum.
Most full-color printing since the prospect became commercially feasible for large quantities in the second half of the 1800s involves combining cyan, yellow, and magenta inks with a key (black) plate. The black typically predominantly denominates, and helps reduce a muddy appearance with the use of cyan, magenta, and yellow for dark tones. However, a three-color process was also available, with a different blue. I'm not sure when this could be used, but this demonstrates the principles.

Description: Artwork used to advertise McKenzie Grant. Paper mounted on card showing images that were used in the final and how layering of colour tones begin to build up the final image. Image has section cut out which will later be the tea label. Printers' notes read '1 zinco 5/5.

Further Notes: Original artwork created by Smith & Ritchie. Andrew McKenzie Grant tea, coffee and wine specialists were located on Culbard Street in Elgin. Smith and Ritchie were established in Edinburgh in 1853. The firm were multi colour offset printers who were specialist suppliers to the food packaging industry. They were located at Amphion Works in Albert Street. In 1963 Smith & Ritchie became the first printing company in Scotland to use a gravure press and produced reel fed work up to five colours. Smith & Ritchie moved to Livingston in 1986 and in 1991 became the first printing firm in Scotland to use a 10 station gravure press.
Smith & Ritchie have subsequently moved out to Livingston and survive today as Amcor Flexibles S & R. Amcor are originally an Australian company and now have operations in 36 countries around the world specialising in many printed products of which the food packaging that Amcor Flexibles S & R is one.
History: Smith & Ritchie were located at 71 Albert Street, Edinburgh.

Not my own blocks but a picture take whilst using them. Sometimes the blocks with ink are nicer than the print they make.

In my letterpress reference collection I have this interesting little print – normally framed in its originally frame of walnut. The print is printed by Brdr. Berling in Copenhagen approx. 1840 and is a rare example of Danish Compound Plates Printing – Congreve Printing. Congreve printing is/was a version of letterpress invented to print multicolour and relief prints in one pull on the iron hand press – giving a perfect registration, as all elements colors and embossing’s are printed at one time in one pull. The relative complexed printing method was invented by the English Artillery General William Congreve around 1824 as an attempt to improve and develop the printing and the safety of bank notes. Congreve printing never became a success, as it was very labour intensive, and was primary used for printing portraits of important persons.
This print is a portrait of the Danish King Christian VIII (1786-1839-1848). Before he became king of Denmark he was in 1814 shortly king of Norway, and gave at Eidsvoll together with the Norwegian national assembly the Norwegians the free and independent constitution on May 17th 1814.

What is 3D Printing Service?

3D Printing Processes
SLA（StereoLithography）
SLA means laser curing rapid prototyping technology, the process of molding is to dip the photosensitive resin liquid through the workbench, and then irradiate the liquid surface by ultraviolet light, and the irradiated part is immediately solidified and formed. After the layer is formed, the workbench is lowered. The height of the layer, the liquid surface is re-impregnated through the workbench, and the ultraviolet light is subjected to curing irradiation of the next layer, so that the layer is solidified and formed to obtain a three-dimensional solid prototype.
SLA Processes:
1. Created by 3D modeling software, the 3D model of the 12 animal heads is produced, and the stl format is derived.
2. Import the file into Magics software for slicing.
3. Import the processed 3D files into the ProtoFab SLA light-curing 3D printer for 3D printing and curing.
4. Post-treatment process of 12 animal head models by cleaning, polishing etc.
5. Painting the polished animal head model.
SLM (Selective Laser Melting)
SLM represents elective laser melting, a kind of additive manufacturing, metal powder rapid prototyping technology, which can directly form metal parts that are close to full density and good mechanical properties. SLM technology overcomes the complicated process of manufacturing metal parts by Selective Laser Sintering (SLS) technology.
The SLM technology is a technique in which metal powder is completely melted by the heat of a laser beam and solidified by cooling.
