Taking a little break from the sun print series...

This is actually not a linocut but I don't make that many collagraphs so decided to stick it under this category. It is printed on mulberry paper, 3 layers -- first the body, then the wing membrane and finally the wink skeleton.

Approximately 2x3 feet. Edition of 5.

Digitale grafiek 100 x 100 cm

There was ink left on the plate after I did the previous print (Reeds). So, I re-worked the 5x7 glass plate by wiping areas with a cotton swab, scratching out some fine white lines with a pencil, and blotting some ink off the plate with a paper towel. I then printed it onto inkjet paper.

Here's our new intern Amandine working on putting together various portfolio parts.

Did a test print using a standard laser jet print out with acetone. My brother flickr.com/rayuen did the drawing.

Process:

1. Reverse image

2. Print out

3. Place image face down on surface

4. Tape edges

5. Use paint brush and apply acetone

6. Rub with a round, hard object. I used the handle of a screwdriver.

Assignment: to create a book of printmaking images.

凸版打印,就會在紙張上展現這種細微的凹陷差異.這是特點,也是一般平版印刷無法表現的魅力所在.

This print will be auctioned off at the Chocopalooza Festival in Adrian, MI on February 7th. Proceeds benefit Adrian Public Schools. Inspiration for this print came from the Theobroma cacao tree in the Tropical Room of the Hidden Lake Gardens conservatory.
