This was a piece I did for an installation at Intersection for the Arts, based on interviews I did with Julio Salgado, an undocumented, queer, artist activist who, using his comic-book style approach, would draw portraits and posters of his undocumented peers and their key organizing moments, whether they were being arrested in the White House or conducting a hunger strike. While Julio did attend college, he cannot legally work because he is undocumented. I was so inspired by his story, that he became one of the centerpieces of this installation. The cartoon figures in the background of the wall pieces are Julio's drawings of undocumented youth and the careers they would want to pursue if they had the ability to become a legalized.
Photo transfer made during "printmaking without a press" class. Transfers of 3 different images (poppies, part of an audience, and upside down Stonehenge)
Students began Art 2 by printmaking their unique ideations of a still life of a potted plant. They are creating four prints: a color gradient background with black ink, color gradient ink, black ink, and black ink with a watercolor.
We went back to print-making for this year's card. Ben created a lovely muskox image but my printing skills were a bit off this year. Ben and I have both been really busy this November/early December so we decided to take the pressure off ourselves to try and get these out "for Christmas" and instead will simply send them when they are ready. Happy 2016!
Evelyn, age 11, employed contrast well and developed a good composition. She chose colors that helped her sea-life stand out from the background. Her turtles sparkle with light from above, she added depth by using more than one color on her brayer as seen on her green coral and pink guppie. Overall nice job!
This was my contribution to MAST (McKinney Art Studio Tour) 2015. I was happy that it sold and I could help my art community that way!

This is part of my pressed flowers collection printed as pages in an art book. The prints are 4 color reduction that is then cut out with a knife. The white you see around the flower is the lid of my scanner.
I wanted to have a digital documentation of the finals mono prints that I did for my 2-D art course fall semester. I really enjoyed our little printmaking section. It was really fun working with the inks and the press.
I figured I should share!

The very kind Veta Gorner ( www.vetagorner.com/ ) lent me her old tiny etching press! The bed is A3 size and it's perfect for me to play about with some drypoints again. (I'm too impatient for the whole etching process.)
The book press can just be seen under the table too - so I'm all set to become a proper printmaker again. ;)
