I took this picture in Washington, DC over the summer and it shows movement and rhythm. This is because the car is being driven and the sun is setting therefore, they are both in motion.
The twelve principles of animation are very important, as they are the life and soul of any animation, without these, animations would be robotic, boring and not very enjoyable to watch.
These principles are important as they can add character to an otherwise boring piece of animation, whether it's 3D or 2D. A good animator can add emotion to a character, whether that character is human or not, just by using these techniques correctly, thus improving the overall animation.
All twelve of the principles aren't necessary for an animation to be good as one or two can vastly improve a character, just by using them correctly and in the right proportions.
