DIAL created a new suite of tools and resource documents to help digital development practitioners better utilize the Principles for Digital Development in their work.
These include:
• Digital Principles 101 training course
• Program and grant proposal evaluation matrix (""Maturity Matrix"") • Principles x SDG Framework
• Quick reference one-pagers for project management
• Self-study guides on relevant and emergent digital development topics
At ICT4D 2019, DIAL hosted a workshop where participants had the opportunity to engage with these new tools and learn how they can be applied directly to their work. They also received training on how to share the Digital Principles with colleagues and associates and learned how to better incorporate the Digital Principles into their organization’s processes for more effective program management.

The principle of design I think this photo has is contrast, the dark greens of the leaves vs. the light blues of the sky. The tree trunks also use lines drawing the eye up into the sky and color plays a key factor in the contrast. I tried to use the two large trees as a sort of framing device but am unsure if I succeeded…I do get a sense of balance as well. Not such a unique subject
Formal Compositional Principles: [24 images] Explore each of the formal compositional principles below. In some cases, several principles may be involved in the composition of the image. This is fine, but the principle you choose should be what you feel is the PREDOMINATE one in the look of the image. Submit one image for each principle below.
1. Variety because of all the different bags of chips.
2. The circular pattern with the light directed in the middle. Also, the different colours of the bags.
This image demonstrates good proportion in regards to the rule of thirds.

DIAL participated in the 2019 Information Communications Technology for Development (ICT4D) Conference, which brought together hundreds of public, private and civil society organizations, eager to share practical insights on applying digital technology to development, humanitarian, and conservation challenges.
DIAL had several sessions during the conference and presented on a range of topics ranging from the Digital Principles, open source to using mobile data for development.
