4. Reflect on the 12 principles of animation
The Twelve Principles of Animation are: squash and stretch, anticipation, staging, straight ahead action or pose to pose, follow through and overlapping action, slow in and slow out, arcs, secondary action, timing, exaggeration, solid drawing, and appeal. These being the 12 principles of animation are essential to creating any animation, even if unbeknownst to an animator they will use at least one of these principles at least when making an animation due to the fact that these principles can separate a good animation from a set of pictures.
Most of these principles focus on the idea of motion and weight and also factor in flexibility and elasticity to provide a natural flow and to give off smooth motion when animating. the key principle or idea is to give an animation that has believable animation or animation that can work with the subject matter or universe for example a character drama will have animations that have more subtle movements as a pose to a children's animations that focuses on visual humour and over exaggeration.
However the other principles that focus on the production aspect cannot be ignored as they are also integral to the process of creating an animation for example solid drawing techniques.

The twelve principles of animation are very important, as they are the life and soul of any animation, without these, animations would be robotic, boring and not very enjoyable to watch.
These principles are important as they can add character to an otherwise boring piece of animation, whether it's 3D or 2D. A good animator can add emotion to a character, whether that character is human or not, just by using these techniques correctly, thus improving the overall animation.
All twelve of the principles aren't necessary for an animation to be good as one or two can vastly improve a character, just by using them correctly and in the right proportions.
