Daisies are pretty flowers (or weeds!) when fully open, but that's only half the story. At the start or end of the day when they are only partly open (or partly closed!) they give a different display of beauty.
The underside of the petals on these daisies are a gorgeous deep pink colour, but it's only when they are partly open that the true colour is revealed!
Felicia woke up sweating. Her heart raced and she had trouble breathing. This nightmare was the worst yet. Absolutely horrible.
In her dream, she was a musical actress. And as if this was not enough, she was apparently in the process of studying for the lead role in a musical based on a John Hughes movie. And, also apparently, she seemed to like it.
"This calls for a double shot", she thought.
Four fingers of Laphroaig later, sleep finally found her again. And this time, her imagination went the right way. She was still an actress, but this time it was the female lead in Machete 2. Now that is a movie worth dreaming about!

See, Kacie and I became friends in the 7th grade. Apparently she was too cool for me when she transferred into our 6th grade class. We were full-on children of the 80s and have the bad hair photos to prove it.
Kacie LOVED the movie "Pretty in Pink." When I say "love" I mean L-O-V-E-D. As in, saw it at the theater every day for solid week and then about 957 times after that.
So, naturally, when I found out she was having a girl and several other old Jr. High friends could attend the shower, it was a no-brainer to me to try and combine all those things into one sophisticated yet fun 80s baby shower. I know. 80s? Sophisticated? You're thinking oxymoron, too, eh?
Get your oversized glasses with the gold initial stickers in the corner on and take a gander at these. Just make sure you take that huge comb out of your back pocket before you sit on it.

American actor James Spader (1960) began acting in youth-oriented Brat Pack films such as Pretty in Pink (1986) and Mannequin (1987). He is known for often portraying morally ambiguous and eccentric characters in such films as Steven Soderbergh's drama Sex, Lies, and Videotape (1989), True Colors (1991), Stargate (1994), 2 Days in the Valley (1996), and Secretary (2002) His accolades include three Primetime Emmy Awards for Boston Legal (2004-2008).
James Todd Spader was born in 1960 in Boston, Massachusetts. He is the youngest of three children. His parents, Jean (née Fraser) and Stoddard Greenwood Spader, were both teachers. He has two older sisters, Libby Spader and Annie Spader, and had a progressive and liberal upbringing: "I was always around dominant and influential women, and that left a great impression". He attended many private schools, including The Pike School in Andover, where his mother taught art, and the Brooks School in North Andover, where his father was a teacher. He later transferred to Phillips Academy, where he befriended John F. Kennedy Jr. At 17, he dropped out of school and moved to New York City to pursue acting full-time and attend the Michael Chekhov Acting Studio. He was working as a janitor at a rehearsal studio run by acting teacher and casting director Trent Gough in Times Square when he landed his first feature film. He played Brooke Shields' brother in the teen drama Endless Love (Franco Zeffirelli, 1981). His first starring role was in the teen drama Tuff Turf (Fritz Kiersch, 1985) alongside his good friend Robert Downey Jr. The following year, he rose to stardom when he played the rich, arrogant playboy Steff in Pretty in Pink (Howard Deutch, 1986) opposite Molly Ringwald and Andrew McCarthy, another friend. A cult classic, Pretty in Pink is commonly identified as a 'Brat Pack' film. He also co-starred with McCarthy in another Brat Pack comedy, Mannequin (Michael Gottlieb, 1987) and in the film adaptation of Less Than Zero (Marek Kanievska, 1987), in which he played a drug dealer named Rip. McCarthy would later direct Spader in multiple episodes of The Blacklist (2013). Supporting roles followed in films such as Baby Boom (Charles Shyer, 1987) with Diane Keaton and Wall Street (Oliver Stone, 1987) with Michael Douglas and Charlie Sheen. In each of these films, he played similarly sleazy, villainous characters. Then he had his breakthrough as a character actor in Sex, Lies, and Videotape (Steven Soderbergh, 1989), in which he played a troubled voyeur and drifter who videotapes women discussing their sexuality and fantasies. He disrupts the placid suburban existence of a handful of these women. Roger Ebert: "Spader’s performance throughout the film is a kind of risk-taking. Can you imagine the challenge an actor faces in taking the kind of character I have described and making him not only intriguing but seductive? Spader has the kind of sexual ambiguity of the young Brando or Dean; he seems to suggest that if he bypasses the usual sexual approaches, it is because he has something more interesting up, or down, his sleeve." For this performance, Spader received the Best Actor Award at the Cannes Film Festival. The film, which won the Palme d'Or at the festival, was influential in revolutionising the independent film movement in the early 1990s.
James Spader's roles in the early 1990s included a young, affluent widower opposite Susan Sarandon in the romantic drama White Palace (Luis Mandoki, 1990), a yuppie who meets the mysterious Rob Lowe in the Noir drama Bad Influence (Curtis Hanson, 1990), John Cusack's best friend in the political drama True Colors (Herbert Ross, 1991), and a poker-playing drifter in the Paul Auster adaptation The Music of Chance (Philip Haas, 1993). One of his most famous roles is Egyptologist Daniel Jackson in the Sci-Fi film Stargate (Roland Emmerich, 1994), starring Kurt Russell. The film grossed $196.6 million worldwide. Spader played one of his strangest and most provocative roles—a man with a car crash fetish - in the controversial Canadian thriller Crash (David Cronenberg, 1996). Then he played killer Lee Woods in the Neo Noir 2 Days in the Valley (John Herzfield, 1996). In the Seinfeld episode The Apology (1997), he played an angry recovering alcoholic who refuses to apologise to George for making fun of him. Spader played a drug-addicted detective tracking a serial killer in The Watcher (Joe Charbanic, 2000) alongside Keanu Reeves and the sadomasochistic boss of Maggie Gyllenhaal in the critically acclaimed film Secretary (Steven Shainberg, 2002). From 2004 to 2008, he starred as the colourful attorney Alan Shore in the TV series Boston Legal, reprising his role from the legal drama The Practice (2003). Writer-producer David E. Kelley said there was resistance when he first tried to cast Spader in the role: "I was told that no one would ever welcome James Spader into their living room." He won the Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series in 2004 for his portrayal on The Practice and won it again in 2005 and 2007 for Boston Legal. On stage, he made his Broadway debut in 'Race' (2009-2010), a play written and directed by David Mamet. Spader guest-starred as the manipulative salesman Robert California in the season 7 finale of The Office, but then joined the cast as a regular member for the eighth season. He played supporting roles in such films as Lincoln (Steven Spielberg, 2012), starring Daniel Day-Lewis, and The Homesman (Tommy Lee Jones, 2014). He portrayed criminal mastermind Raymond 'Red' Reddington, one of the FBI's most wanted fugitives, in ten seasons of the television series The Blacklist (2013-2023). He also played the villainous robot Ultron in the superhero film Avengers: Age of Ultron (Joss Whedon, 2015), starring Robert Downey Jr. and Chris Hemsworth and reprised the role in the series VisionQuest (2026). James Spader met his first wife, decorator Victoria Kheel, while she was working in a yoga studio after he moved to New York City in the 1980s. They married in 1987 and had two sons: Sebastian Spader (1989) and Elijah Spader (1992). Victoria was the set decorator for Sex, Lies, and Videotape (1989). Spader filed for divorce from Kheel in 2004. He began dating actress Leslie Stefanson in 2002. They have one son together, Nathaneal (2008).

My younger daughter happened to spot this garage door in Rockridge (Oakland) that was pretty much the exact same shade as her shirt. She called it out to me, so I didn't feel bad about asking her to let me photograph her in front of it.
i saw this in the $5.50 bin at walmart today when looking for a movie for my dad for his birthday. since i only had the vhs version, i decided to upgrade for one of my fav. 80s movies.
andrew mccarthy is dreamy, dontcha think? back then i was like "drool" ... but have you seen him lately? man, time changes people! lol
this dvd has extra added bonus duckie features too! who can resist that? :)
