I hope everyone enjoyed the first day of Summer! The weather here was perfect today! I was sitting in my garden, in bright sunshine, a warm breeze & surrounded by all my beautiful flowers with different birds coming by to visit... what more can you ask for!
Try to forget what objects you have before you - a tree, a house, a field, or whatever. Merely think, 'Here is a little square of blue, here an oblong of pink, here a streak of yellow,' and paint it just as it looks to you, the exact color and shape, until it gives you your own impression of the scene before you. Spring melds into Summer, Waterlilies are blooming and Dragonflies are flying. But it's still soooooo cold!
Soapwort, I love these flowers, don't know why I just do, this is a bit soft, it was taken when the camera was on video and not photo, we live and learn.

Not the sharpest but softer focus hides lots of imperfections in the mug.. so I'm happy with this :)
Had a fantastic "home time", five full days with family. So good to be there for my mom's 85th birthday. She's in great shape, still drives but hates driving on the freeways. Can't blame her. My brother Ralph was there from Arkansas and spent lots of time on his laptop going over thousands of rodeo pictures he took the previous weekend. Hopefully he'll sell lots of them to the participants of that event. He's posted a few on his Flickr gallery. Great stuff. His daughter was also in town from California, good to spend a bit of time with my niece too.
Went to La Caile restaurant for a photo shoot of my 5 year old granddaughter on Sunday. They charge $250 for a three hour shoot, but if you have dinner there you can roam around the property and take pictures afterwards. So we had dinner, grandpa paid, and actually spent a bit more than $250. A good deal, the food was amazing and we had about an hour of good light. My daughter and I had a blast taking pictures of our little model princess. She really put on the show, making some faces that were funny, but not what we were looking for. Still, she gave us plenty of great looks and we were happy with everything. So much fun, I can't even begin to express.
Back on the road Monday, but so busy as usual, finding time to enjoy some Flickr time has been hard. I'll be catching up in bits and pieces as time permits. I may not be able to comment on every picture, but will do my best. Hopefully my faves, and comments when I can, will let you know how much I enjoy seeing your amazing photography. Your work and encouragement make Flickr my favorite place to be. Well, second favorite, behind my camera would be first. (not counting family and such for obvious reasons)
Hope you like this picture, got more on the way. Thank you dear friends!

Looking close... on Friday: Pretty in Pink
Initially I wanted to take a picture of the heart, but Pixie insisted on adding his own touch.
The Princess of the pink marble palace takes a stroll in the grounds surrounding her beautiful home. She admires the fine work of her army of gardeners as she gathers an array of differently shaded pink blooms into a stunning and fragrant bouquet.
The theme for “Looking Close on Friday” for the 24th of September is “pretty in pink”. Two of the wonderful things that attract people, young and old alike, to Playmobil are their vibrant colours and the array of different items that are produced. Thus, when the theme was announced, I knew I immediately wanted to photograph my collection of pretty pink blooms and one of my pink princesses for it. I do hope that you like my choice for the theme, and that it makes you smile.
Playmobil is a line of toys produced by the Brandstätter Group, headquartered in Zirndorf, Germany. Production began in 1974. Playmobil began to be sold worldwide in 1975, and by 2009, approximately 2.2 billion Playmobil figures had been sold. The signature Playmobil toy is a 7.5 cm tall human figure with a particular smiling face. A wide range of accessories, buildings and vehicles, as well as many sorts of animals, are also part of the Playmobil line. Playmobil toys are produced in themed series of sets as well as individual special figures and playsets. New products and product lines developed by a 50-strong development team are introduced frequently, and older sets are discontinued. Promotional and one-off products are sometimes produced in very limited quantities. These practices have helped give rise to a sizeable community of collectors.

RIP john hughes.
i had a dream last night that i had to play a show i didn't know about, and i couldn't play the guitar everyone else was using, so i decided all i could do on short notice was my rendition of kate bush's "this woman's work". i had borrowed jc's 2002 which was part white, part orange, and held together by scotch tape with some foam damage on the outside. that's right, foam, not metal. i guess his model was different than mine. i digress.
yesterday at work we were talking about parents taking their kids to see movies and i remembered seeing the breakfast club with my mom in 5th grade with my boyfriend sitting a couple of rows in front of us. i remember wanting to crawl under the seats. i'm sure she hated it. but my sisters and i knew it line by line.
i saw sixteen candles later, once we had acquired a VHS player. and at every chance i got. it's a staple, really. i probably quote it on a daily basis without even realizing it. but then, maybe i do. and everytime i have squeaky shoes and rattly purse, you know who i sound like.
what can i say about ferris? i'll never know anyone that cool.
and pretty in pink... well, that movie dominated my life for a while. i had the hair, the vintage accessories, the altered clothing, the music, and later, yes, even the car. (my sister had two of them.) just never had the duckie (despite attempts). of course i agree with the rest of the world that the ending should've stayed the original way, but he made up for that with the little drummer girl getting her boy and bling for her ears. did i mention my nickname in jr. high was molly? yah. pretty bad.
i'm rambling, but my point is that this guy managed to make a few movies that may mean nothing to most, but ended up being so much a part of my life, i can't imagine who i'd be without having them as a part of my adolescent diet. that's entertainment.
Starting off this new week with my beautiful pink phlox, still blooming brightly in my garden. Happy new week my friends =)
Although there are still 68 days until spring, we can dream! Today in VT it will be 48 degrees and 50 for the next two days! A mini spring.
Beautiful pink sky coloring everything. =D
Thanks a lot for all the faves and comments, Flick friends!
Hope you all have a great week!
It's crazy, but pleasing to see this pretty Burning Bush on fire at this time of year. Best viewed large. Happy weekend my friends =)
Pencilled Cranesbill, in a Welsh garden, so nice to see some of the wildflowers growing in a garden.
Ob als buschige Balkonpflanze oder Hochstämmchen: Die Fuchsie ist eine der beliebtesten Sommerblumen. Ihre Blüten haben eine besonders auffällige Lüsterform.
Sorry I have been so absent lately. I have been working 50 hrs/wk at work for along time now. And we took a little vacation and I took a photo workshop in Las Vegas last weekend. I will post pics once I get them processed. Have a great rest of the week!
