This young Grey Butcherbird was practicing his 'beat prey to death' technique on bits of the flaky bark from this paperbark tree - quite a good moth substitute. At Star Swamp a couple of months ago.

Adjacent to the mural mile floodwall during the annual Paint Louis sanctioned graffiti event, this individual appears to be practicing or testing some paint on this building. Thanks for looking.

One of my favorite winter subjects is red yucca seed pods. Still summer and the yucca has gone to seed, Lakeway, TX. Sony A6000 and EL Nikkor 50/2.8 enlarger lens.

I know you've heard it a thousand times before. But it's true -- hard work pays off. If you want to be good, you have to practice, practice, practice. If you don't love something, then don't do it.

Just chasing time, but I guess sometimes we all need to practice some patience......

How poor are they that have not patience! What wound did ever heal but by degrees?

Toby is tolerable with hats, but Riley is a mixed bag. Yesterday (when I was just practicing and not shooting at all) he was excellent.

Today - in front of my iPhone on its tripod (so - minimal setup - see stream for cute little iPhone tripod I use) and he was... unimpressed.

However, since I was using the kitchen lights and NOT the flash - I could take as many pictures (via remote) as I wanted.

Ha!

This was the best in the box (with only TWO that had both dogs with hats and me not in the picture).

(and yes, my dogs, my floors, and my cabinets are all the same color. This is actually where I shoot all my "studio" photographs - hence the usage of backdrops)

This is Joshua practicing his glass blowing at a shop in Cabo San Lucas. We visited as part of an organized city tour and some people got to try out blowing a bubble of molten glass. The bubble at the end of the metal rod quickly cooled and then was broken, producing very thin glass shards that were discarded.

Many thanks for your visits, faves and comments. Cheers. ...from a drive to Marie's place.

I am revisiting some of my old pics to practice b&w conversions.

Just because the rodent season is over, it is never sufficient to rest on one's laurels. A successful season past is no guarantee for the future. Every season presents an opportunity to work on skills. For example, a snow encrusted twig makes a more than suitable substitution for a prideful presentation to one's partner. While a bit less tricky to catch, other hazards clearly exist complicating the activity.

I think I have now used this space too many times!

I'm feeling a tension between wanting to create some manipulations like this one and doing simpler more monotoned work! I guess I'll have to do both and double time it.

If you practice hard enough .. could you achieve anything?

Deep in the basement in this old civic building are the cells, they have an almost 'facility' feeling about them. Wonderful leisurely day with Brother Barnabus and the meeting of 'Pam' . Un Invited
