The South Pennine hills are a beautiful place to roam with a camera but being between the conurbations of Greater Manchester and West Yorkshire it inevitably displays evidence of modern life. Like giants striding across the hills, these pylons are a feature of the landscape that are hard to escape from.
These birds were patiently waiting for cars to pass so they could swoop down and eat all the dead fish that washed up on the bank.
The one on the far left must smell bad, he's not perched next to the others :)

I had noticed these power lines while traveling this highway many times through Overton County, Tennessee. Knowing that a time soon before sunset would produce great light on the lines, I finally came upon the setting at the right time to capture the effect I wanted.

I'll get a shot of a hawk, not on a pole or power line! Tonight I did find one in a tree, (right behind my doctor's office) but the light simply didn't work. Hope you all have a great week.
The municipalities in the Dallas-Fort Worth area have been very active in converting areas that have no commercial or residential value into parks and greenways. Many of these paths and parks connect together to provide a convenient and safe way to walk or bike to much of the metro area. This greenway in Addison, Texas is built along the right-a-way of a major power line.
Powerlines run through a small woodland in Summerside, Prince Edward Island. The sky is greyed out with cloud while the winter sun tries its best to warm things up.

The main powerline poles are being replaced this summer. The 50 year old wooden poles have been replaced with these taller, all steel ones.
I must admit, I've never understood this phenomenon. I'm getting old and like to keep my shoes on my feet.
This was taken last Sunday at the same place where I saw all those spiders. It was around sunset time, but due to clouds no sun visible. The color of the sky was like this - it does show a bit stronger on this photo because I gave it a bit more contrast...
