David Berlind's Podcasting setup. That's a Eurorack UB802 mixer on the right there and a ton of wires from Radio Shack. Also, a Shure SM58 mic. That's Audacity running on the second display that's connected to the powerbook (and Skype running on the LCD). Somewhere in the rats nests of wiring is a Griffin iMic.
I'm not sure why I keep taking these photos, I just love the masses of macs we get in. I miss the quirky machines like the flowerpot iMac on the left, instead of the reams of fairly dull laptops.
It's like Mac top trumps, I'm hoping to get a clamshell original iBook in eventually. Tragically.
Free is not bad! I just need to install a New Dual Layer SuperDrive and a 320GB HD I'm good. Plus restore backup from Time Capsule of 12" Powerbook G4.
I got two PowerBook 2400c now - one Japanese and one American. The Japanese PowerBook is running fine but the American is not.
Both of them are running a 603e 180MHz Processor, 80MB RAM and 1.3GB HD.
I was bored and keep on pressing the Power Management Reset button on the American but it still shows the Green Light Of Death, so I closed the lid (hardly) and it chimes... then booted!
Um, don't know why it crashed after playing for awhile and it sleeps again.
opening up my new (ok, slightly used) powerbook and turning it on for the first time ; 12" powerbook, 5 months old, 1.5Ghz/80GB hard drive/1.25 GB RAM upgrade/Superdrive/Bluetooth 2.0/airport extrem
Mon pb était dans ma malette.
Ma malette, sur mon épaule.
La courroie lâche soudainement.
La malette tombe sur le trottoir.
PAF.
L'ordi fonctionne toujours...
Mais impossible de brancher le power supply, même après avoir repoussé le métal tordu avec des pinces.
Il me reste 41 minutes de jus.
Question: est-ce réparable???
===
Is this repairable?
The pb still works, but I'm unable to connect the power supply!!!
The last PowerBook to be released by Apple, in October '05.
It's now hopelessly slow and outdated, but it still serves me well.
Here, it looks much cooler than it actually is :)
Here are two of my essential tools, my Powerbook and my Nokia 9500. Without these I simply cannot operate! This photo was taken with a Casio Exilim ex-z40, nice little camera, although the image quality is a little dissapointing.
August 2010; Cleaning out the back of my garage and look what I found. My old PowerBook Duo 230 from 1996, with almost no RAM and even a smaller hard-drive. No CD Drive only an external floppy drive, no Ethernet plug, only a modem. Used it for e-mail (AOL), word processing and spreadsheets.
It still starts up...
We were spring cleaning our lab and I chanced upon this sweet box! It was from a time when the Apple logo had colors. By the way, anyone know why the Apple logo has a byte taken out of it? ^^. I was pretty excited when I found this. Does it even still work?

Go there to get the application to do it. This is the boot screen BTW
On a flight to Italy, the second we're airborne and the seatbelt sign goes off, all three of us in the row reach into our bags and almost simultaneously pull out three PowerBooks. None of us shared a common language, but at that moment we just smiled at one another and began jamming away. Nice.
I bought this powerbook in January 2003. It had various mishaps and hanification moments along the way. Its case was very scratched as I never bought a slipcase for it. Finally my boyfriend made me a case for my birthday in 2004 but shortly afterwards, I tripped over the power cable and it fell, landing on the screen on the concrete floor. It still worked perfectly, amazingly, but the amount of the screen that I could see out of steadily reduced. Finally in April or so 2005 I had to accept that its fate was terminal and buy a new one. Retired in Greensboro, Alabama, April 2005.
Close up of the dock on my old Apple PowerBook G4 12"
This has been replaced by a black MacBook which, to date has given me no problems.
