The first train in several days, UP's once a week LDZ11 local to Craig pushes through nearly two feet of fresh snow as they knock down the west end of the siding at Steamboat. Behind them are the slopes of Steamboat Springs, where skiers are no doubt enjoying a beautiful powder day.

Cactus are blooming among the grasses in Thunder Basin National Grasslands as a northbound Union Pacific coal train climbs Logan Hill north of Bill, Wyoming. Cactus flowers only bloom for a day or two, making a colorful showing this day of June 28, 2015.
I have been carrying this vintage tin of expensive perfume and body powder. It’s quite old, if anyone has any idea of how old it is please let me know. Info: Richard Alexander Hudnut (June 2, 1855 – October 30, 1928)[1] was an American businessman recognized as the first American to achieve international success in cosmetics manufacturing.[2] The company once maintained separate US and European headquarters on Fifth Avenue in New York City and on the Rue de la Paix in Paris, respectively.

Although his fortune had been built around cosmetics and beauty products, he preferred to be known as a "perfumer".
The brick water tank base at Powder Valley, Pennsylvania is one of the few existing structures on the remaining portion of the Reading’s Perkiomen Branch. Anthracite Railway, the first designated operator of the branch after Conrail spun it off, sponsored an excursion with its e-D&H RS3 and ex-Reading coaches, which I believe were borrowed from George Hart. Here the train passes the water tank base.

These are all used to fill cracks and voids in wooden bowls. They are packed in the hole and then saturated with super glue. Starting at the lower left and going clockwise is hand roasted, hand ground espresso grounds best used to fill in bark inclusions, next is phlogopite mica flacks, followed by old growth douglas fir sanding dust taken from a belt sander bag, next is "Iron Glimmer Grey" from an art supply store, turns out is carborundum powder better used for sandpaper as it dulls cutting tools instantly, next is graphite coated mica flakes and in the center is powdered brass which will polish up nicely and look like gold.

The beautiful Kennal Vale river flows through the old gun powder works, one of my fave spots to visit particularly at this time of the year. The leaves are down spreading their reds and yellows over the mossy rocks, a polariser helps to reduce glare and bring out the colours. There are so many lovely compositions to be had here, I have a few more images to show yet from this amazing spot.
One big mistake with this shot is I should have thought at the time to focus stack, I was a bit like a kid in a sweet shop I think.
