A Great Egret adopts an almost angelic pose upon a tree, backlighting himself beautifully for the photo.
This image features a nuthatch clinging to the side of a tree trunk, with its body angled downward. Nuthatches are skilled climbers, often seen creeping headfirst down tree trunks, a unique behavior among birds. They forage for insects, seeds, and nuts in tree bark crevices, using their sharp beaks to pry food out. Nuthatches are territorial, particularly during the breeding season, and will defend their area vigorously.
They use a variety of calls and postures to communicate with intruders or rivals.
Goldeneye ducks adopt this remarkable Courtship /display/threat behaviour where they throw their head onto their backs whilst swimming and calling ,all at the same time!

The Black-crowned night heron has a stocky appearance, as if hunched over, the head tucked down into the shoulders, and it is usually seen with this posture. Its legs and neck are much shorter than those of other herons. This bird is most active at dusk or at night, their ghostly forms flying from their daytime roosts to the wetlands where they forage. Adults have striking gray-and-black plumage with long white head plumes.
This Great Horned Owlet was very drowsy, but opened it’s eyes just a bit when a car drove past. You should see how many photos I have of it’s eyes closed. Lol

I have been a long time believer that your birth position in a large family goes a long ways in defining many of your character traits. As the sixth cherub to make his appearance in our family, the birthing doctor told my mother I seemed to have a mind of my own right from the start.
That competitive and stand-alone nature can come in handy in a lot of situations in life but the negative flip side of those traits is the ability to be very annoying to others, something I struggled with for years and as my wife is fond of saying, that struggle ain't over.
No other recipients were more handy targets than my poor departed teachers who soon learned when I was in their class to adapt the posture of this Blue Jay if they really wanted to know what was going on in their class when they were doing something on the blackboard.
It's 33 degrees out right now...needless to say, no more outdoor dress pictures (at midnight, in the train tracks).
will make you weep
you'll cry and cry
and try to sleep
but sleep won't come
the whole night through
your cheatin' heart
will tell on you
