To have a correct posture you must have your right hand firmly on the grip with one finger lightly on the shutter button, and your left hand must loosely grip under or around the lens. The strap must be around your neck, if you have nothing to lean on then your feet should be shoulder length apart. Before taking a picture it would be better to take a gentle, but deep breath in, hold it, take the picture, then breath out.

Proper camera holding posture is achieved when your right hand is gripping the grip and your left hand is supporting the base of the camera. In this posture it is also very easy to change the zoom on your lens by rotating it with your fingers.
