Major infrastructure needs to take place to separate system and sewage water where combined drains occur.
No casualties (apparently) except for this Victorian post box. It's been on our road for well over a century I'd say, and has survived numerous Halloween fireworks. In the 1970s it was a landmark for the well-known Dublin tramp Johnny Fortycoats whom my cousin often saw stop and walk round it three or four times (for who knows what arcane reason, for luck perhaps) before continuing on his way.
VV had left a post-it on his dishwasher to let me know that it was full of dirty dishes. Being asian, we generally use the dishwasher as a dish drainer/for storage and he didn't want me using any of the dirty stuff in there thinking it was clean.
I thanked him for his consideration by putting the post-it on his back while he rinsed dishes.

Been doing a lot of reading for work lately and it has become my habit to use post-it notes and a pencil to mark important passages, thoughts, quotes etc in the pages.
Oh and if you are interested, this is a very well written history book (and trust me those are hard to find) called The Rise and Fall of Communism by Archie Brown. Highly recommend!
Six of us got together just after midnight armed with 25 pads of post-it notes. It took a little under an hour to cover my sister's car from front to back, and damn were the results worth it.
Porous driveways is a very good idea, given the issue of flooding.
Comment re above: Totally agree. Work on flooding has been thorough and professional - ignoring it would be crazy.
Jewish Care's Post-It note campaign won the Direct Marketing Campaign award at the Third Sector Excellence Awards, November 2008.
The campaign aimed to raise £150,000 and was launched around Rosh Hashanah, the Jewish New Year, when Jewish giving is traditionally concentrated and when other Jewish charities launch appeals.
