The sky was real threatening all day but thankfully no rain...yet. Tomorrow will evidently be another story with a tropical system trying to develop near the Yucatan in Mexico.

The sky was filled with all kinds of dramatic colors and energy tonight. It reminded me of KikiFL's "It Was a Dark and Stormy Night" series.

This is the tale of two fishermen (even though one of them is a bird). I really liked the the story telling that shots like this evoke. Neither of the fishermen caught anything but the human fisher dude did throw pieces of cut up bait fish to the fisher bird-dude.

I promise that these shots are the last of my sunset shots until November 1st. I have lots of non-sunset pictures to process and will be putting those up in the future. Thanks for coming along and enjoying the views!

"A D.C.3, one of TAA's fleet taking off."

A modernistic Georgia Marble and Indiana Limestone building which rises 1046 feet from the ground to the top of the steel mast. A truly great achievement of modern architecture.

The post card was published by Alfred Mainzer, a Jewish-German immigrant who established his namesake company in 1938. Mainzer was best known for their post cards of anthropomorphic cats painted by Eugen Hartung, a Swiss artist. You can find several examples of Hartung's work here.

Mainzer later became known for their Catholic and Christian greeting cards. The company was acquired by Christian Brands in 2022.

We spent a few days soaking up the sun and just relaxing in Malaga. No drop dead must see sights but it was a chill city that we loved exploring. Definitely glad we spent time there!

The Tupelo Motel- the main building seems to have had more of a sense of design than the shed-like motel structures, though earlier views indicate that the rooms were in cottage like structures which were probably joined together before this picture was taken. As noted in the comments below, the motel has been replaced by a Walgreen's.

Some months ago I contacted you about an old photograph on your Flickrstream of the Midland Hotel Bradford for possible use in my forthcoming book about Britain’s railway hotels.

I’m pleased to tell you that the photo will feature in “Railway Hotels” due to be issued by Amberley Publishing on September 15th. The book is now available to pre-order online.

More than 100 people and organisations contributed images and I’d like to thank you once again for helping to make the book a very special visual record of Britain’s railway hotels.

Best regards

Michael Patterson

I am always inspired by the beautiful work done by Jacqueline that I had a try to emulate her style with this tag for Louise's challenge ~ to have "Post Card" on the tag somewhere.

My tag is made up of lots of different things... a digital background from The Graphic Fairy, the photo from Antique Images site, 3 different stamps from Hero Arts and finally some Kaisercraft flowers and unknown brads. Plus lots of distress ink....

If you are in town, come through this weekend, October 4-18 will be the run time.

On back of post card: On ht summer days this pool is popular with parents and members of Anaheim's younger set as well as visitors from Santa Ana, Orange, Fullerton, Garden Grove and other Orange County communities.

I spent many summer days at Pearson Park and took swimming lessons, two sessions that did not help my fear of the deep water. I later taught myself to swim.

I can well recall the pool being about as crowded as this on hot summer afternoons.

Please push "F" key on your keybord. Thank you!

Undated post card for Los Angeles Airways. It's a Sikorsky S-55, so I'm guessing that the photo is from around 1960.

Los Angeles Airways flew a commuter helicopter service between downtown, LAX, Marineland, Disneyland, and the valley.
