The sky was real threatening all day but thankfully no rain...yet. Tomorrow will evidently be another story with a tropical system trying to develop near the Yucatan in Mexico.

The sky was filled with all kinds of dramatic colors and energy tonight. It reminded me of KikiFL's "It Was a Dark and Stormy Night" series.

Thanks for looking. I appreciate feedback.

The post card perfect beach of Cala Liberotto with its light coloured sand, blue water, rocks and green vegetation is an attractive spot for sunbathers and divers.

Steamboats were the preferred mode of transportation across Upper Klamath Lake in the early 1900s, in the days when roads were unimproved. Boats of various sizes carried mail, tourists, rural residents and more. In later years steam engines were replaced by engines fueled by oil. This photo shows Moore Mountain in the background.

My attempt at duplicating a post card shot in 1954

I needed to be off to the right more but there were trees and bushes that didn't exist in 54' that I would have been standing in

Undated post card for Los Angeles Airways. It's a Sikorsky S-55, so I'm guessing that the photo is from around 1960.

Los Angeles Airways flew a commuter helicopter service between downtown, LAX, Marineland, Disneyland, and the valley.

Post Card taken from a collection of other photos from a trip to Japan that date from the 1920's. No credit given for the photographer or publisher

This is the tale of two fishermen (even though one of them is a bird). I really liked the the story telling that shots like this evoke. Neither of the fishermen caught anything but the human fisher dude did throw pieces of cut up bait fish to the fisher bird-dude.

I promise that these shots are the last of my sunset shots until November 1st. I have lots of non-sunset pictures to process and will be putting those up in the future. Thanks for coming along and enjoying the views!

I am always inspired by the beautiful work done by Jacqueline that I had a try to emulate her style with this tag for Louise's challenge ~ to have "Post Card" on the tag somewhere.

My tag is made up of lots of different things... a digital background from The Graphic Fairy, the photo from Antique Images site, 3 different stamps from Hero Arts and finally some Kaisercraft flowers and unknown brads. Plus lots of distress ink....

The first passenger train to arrive in Klamath Falls, on May 20, 1909, was pulled by a Southern Pacific locomotive festooned with patriotic banners. The city had longed for a railroad for many years, knowing it would change the fortunes of many. The steamer Klamath carried a load of passengers to the landing at Ady, where they boarded the train for a ceremonial first ride into town.

Completed this afternoon to send to my friend Kay in USA. The colours shown here are disappointing - they are actually clearer and brighter.

The location and date of this house are unknown. I’d guess turn of the 20th century. This is a real photo post card of someone’s home, somewhere. It was frequently the habit during the heyday of the post card (roughly 1900-1912) for a home owner to buy photo post cards and send them to friends and relatives. Often itinerant but enterprising photographers traveled from town to town, taking photos and then offering to sell cards to prospective clients. This 2 1/2 story wood frame Queen Anne style home is substantial. With a cross-gable roof, it has pedimented gables on front and side facades (at least the left). One chimney is visible. In the left side of the front façade gable is a pedimented dormer with diamond-shaped lights. The window in the front gable had 4 parts—a central window with rounded arch and keystone molding but with lower pane displaying an exaggerated sunburst design; to either side are smaller multi-paned windows. Two porches are on the second story, one above the main porch and a small one above the rear porch; both have square support posts. The windows on the 2nd level appear to be 1/1 double-hung; windows on the first level are not clearly shown but may be more elaborate. The large wraparound porch has slender tapering Doric columns as does the rear porch. Balusters do not seem to be turned. Three wooden steps with railings lead to the front entrance through a wide opening, above which is a slightly projecting pedimented entry gable. The door is not visible. The foundation is hidden by lattice-work.

This plant in Lynchburg was built in 1956 for GE's Rectifier division. Two years later (in December, 1958), GE moved mobile radio production from Utica, New York to this plant.

The caption for this 1960's vintage post card reads:

"Lynchburg, in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia, is the home of the General Electric COMMUNICATIONS PRODUCTS DEPARTMENT. Here, two-way FM radio and car-telephone systems for vehicles, portable two-way radios, industrial paging systems, microwave, multiplex, tone, and data transmission systems are manufactured. Also located in this facility is a rectifier manufacturing operation for General Electric's Semiconductor Products Department."

This particular card is brand new in package and measures 5 3/8" x 7 3/4". It is entitled "Pista Ng San Roque" and is a magnificent work of art. Created by Carlos V. Francisco, the Philippines' most celebrated muralist who "fused superb illustration of theme or subject matter with a masterful and rhythmical stylization of figures," it is an image depicting Pista Ng San Roque, meaning Feast of San Roque. San Roque is a very populated area in the Philippines. It is an excellent display of beautiful colors and a wonderful message of culture, togetherness and good food that perfectly mirrors the best sentiments of the holidays.
