At PT these days they tape my incorrectly tracking patella into position. They pull it medially (towards the inside of the knee) because it's pulling laterally and causing me a lot of pain.

This is my fifth(!) week of PT and certain things are much better now, but other things (stairs, crouching, walking for more than a mile or so) still cause me a lot of pain.

Last week the guy taping my knee was pushing the patella around to figure out how much he had to pull it in. The lady at the next table having her shoulder worked on watched with interest. She asked, "are you taping her knee in place?" I explained it to her. She responded by asking the guy taping my knee, "can you do that to me? My kneecap moves around, I don't think it's supposed to do that." Heh. They explained to her that the patella is supposed to move around and her patella was tracking right, so she didn't need to have her knee taped in place.

Sorry for the shitty picture quality, but this morning BK decided she was going to perform an acrobatic routine that involved jumping up onto the back of this (very unstable) office chair and then turning herself around several times. The chair finally started to lean backward, so Ian tried to help her down safely so she didn't fall. She mewed angrily, like he was seriously cramping her style.

This is the same cat who can't walk across the back of the couch or jump from the floor to the bathroom sink (without using the toilet as a stepping stone) because she has such awful balance.

Stresa is an Italian municipality of 4,639 inhabitants in the province of Verbano-Cusio-Ossola in Piedmont .

Thanks to its position on the western coast of the Borromean Gulf, opposite the islands of the same name , part of the municipal territory, and to the elegant lakeside hosting luxurious hotels and historic residences, Stresa is a famous lakeside tourist resort and is one of the most visited places in the whole of Piedmont.

The territory of Stresa is divided into four parts: it is partly coastal, partly insular, partly hilly and partly mountainous. The coastal part, overlooking Lake Maggiore , includes the historic centre of Stresa and the hamlet of Carciano; the insular part includes three of the four Borromean Islands ( Madre , Bella , Pescatori ); the hilly part includes a series of hamlets overlooking Lake Maggiore (Levo, Binda, Campino, Passera, Someraro, Vedasco, Brisino and Magognino); the mountainous part includes the popular ski resort of Mottarone , the mountain pastures below the eastern side of the mountain and the Alpinia Botanical Garden

In Roman times , the Via Severiana Augusta passed through Stresa , a Roman consular road that connected Mediolanum (modern Milan ) with Verbannus Lacus (Lake Verbano, or Lake Maggiore ), and from here to the Simplon Pass ( lat. Summo Plano). ).

The first historical source that mentions the existence of Stresa is a parchment from 998 , in which the place is called Strixia , a form confirmed by a source from 1249 ; in 1220 it appears as Strexia . In 1014 the emperor Henry II donated Stresa to the nuns of the monastery of San Felice di Pavia.

In this location, in 1935 , a political and military agreement was established between Italy, France and the United Kingdom , called the Stresa Front . In 1958, the summit of European ministers was held in the city, which laid the foundations of the common agricultural policy (CAP). From 3 to 6 June 2004, Stresa hosted the fifty-second meeting of the Bilderberg Group .

From 1926 to 1946 the name of the municipality was Stresa Borromeo .

In 1927 the former municipalities of Chignolo Verbano, Brisino and in 1928 Magognino became part of the municipality.

On 16 September 1943, four of the 57 victims of the Holocaust of Lake Maggiore (22 September 1943) were rounded up in Stresa. Their names are today remembered in a monument together with the 11 other victims (civilians, soldiers and partisans) of the Nazi concentration camps. Most of the Jews in the area managed to save themselves thanks to the support received from the local population.

Construction on the Integrated Sciences Complex (ISC) continues as more than half of the 320 piles to support the foundation of the new building have been driven into bedrock.

Each pile consists of two sections. The bottom sections are 95 feet long and the top sections vary in length depending upon the required depth to reach into bedrock. Those used recently are 85 feet long. Each pile weighs approximately 47,000 pounds.

Dynamic Position Systems (DPS), use multiple thrusters controlled by a central computer to maintain the precise position of a ship or floating platform.

Computers monitor wind speed, currents, wave activity, along with the pitch, roll, and yaw of a ship to determine which thrusters will reduce motion of the platform and prevent currents from pushing the ship away. The thrusters are enormous, with up to 6,000 horsepower, and several of these devices are needed to maintain position for a single floating platform.

The Thrustmaster Portable Dynamic Positioning System even has a portable DPS system that can be temporarily added to any ship, barge, yacht, or floating platform.

King's Lynn Emergency Coastal Defence Battery was positioned here to defend the approach to The Wash against enemy waterborne invasion, the 6in Guns were removed in 1942 as it was realised that The Wash was to shallow to allow a target big enough to require 6in Guns coming into range of the Emergency Coastal Battery, so the Guns were removed and sent to a Druridge Bay in Northumberland.

The 1940's Coastal Defence Battery which stretches along the sea bank and is a rare survival in Norfolk, consisting of a Magazine, a building in which a supply of arms, ammunition and provisions for the Coastal Battery were stored, a Left-hand and Right-hand Gun House, an Engine House, a Close Defence Blockhouse, partly camouflaged and buried in earthen bank to the southwest of the Battery, positioned to defend the southern approach road.

The Battery Observation Post, is a tall three story brick built tower is entered by a pointed doorway, the first floor is missing, the top concrete floor for the Lookout is there but is inaccessible, and is thought to be a unique example in Norfolk, the site was known as ''King's Lynn Battery'' which stands on Onger Hill, operated by two officer's and sixty personnel, which saw service between 1940 to 1943.
