I positioned the camera so that the white clouds look to emanate from the trees. And, a few warm colors are caught as the sun sets behind the dark clouds.
This is the same American kestrel who perched so nicely for me, after it had made this strike, but come up empty.

Shot was taken during a photo triporganized by DohaKoottam ദോഹക്കൂട്ടം, our photographic club to Thakira . Thakira is a small village located a few kilometers to the North of Al Khor town in Qatar. If you are a nature lover, though, it is well worth doing so, as the vista is completely different from much of the rest of Qatar.
Thakira not only rests on the edge of an estuary, it is also home to mangrove swamps. While, because of the extremely high saline content of the sea in this area, the mangroves are not as large as in other countries, they are probably the most established in Qatar.

Found this black-crowned night-heron getting into position for hunting in the marshy shallow water. They can be quite patient too, sometimes found hunched over in the same position for an extensive time while waiting on some type of aquatic delight. They will defend their "hunting grounds" or territory as well, should another opportunistic feeder come along.
What I find most fascinating about them is that quite striking red eye ... they simply grab my attention.
Happy Sunday everyone!

This is only two of the twenty or so Whistling ducks that spend the night together on a snag about 10 feet above the water. I watched them for about fifteen minutes jostling for position on the top of the branch.
A great composition of Camel Rock in the background with a pool of clear blue-green water that occasionally gets a wave causing a waterfall into it. Very dark behind the rock at sunset so I couldn’t capture a good waterfall with a long exposure but it did flow nicely in the water. This was my first composition of the morning so it was still quite dark and needed 8 seconds at ISO800.
Note that this is a low tide, low swell location to shoot from the positions we were located at.

Photoshop
- Added 1 layer mask effect of 'curves' to increase the contrast
- Added 1 layer mask effect of 'saturation' (yellows) to slightly decrease the tone of the house
- Added 1 layer mask effects of 'saturation' (blues) to slightly adjust the lightness of the sky
- Applied digital blending of another tonemapped hdr to correct the ghost artifacts from the trees
- Used 'unsharp mask' (as always) on the background layer

what drew me to add this to the series was how the Osprey had changed its wing position and splayed the large feathers out giving them an almost knife like appearance.
Just to give a little perspective to these shots, the tree - is about 40 feet tall and you cannot get near the base or closer to the tree because of a very dense / overgrown thicket that puts you at least 60 feet back from the tree. Oh and I was using my mono-pod.

Hello? I’m at position 71! It’s cold. Very cold. But the sun is shining, and it warms the tip of my nose. Over!

My hometown, Schoonhoven, has a moat. In early days, it enclosed the old city center, as a protection against intruders. Together with the city walls it was almost impossible to conquer the city.
Nowadays, part of the moat is gone, but a small part of it is still be visible. Even the star-shaped form is visible on maps.
Almost five years ago, the counsil of Schoonhoven agreed to construct a bandstand on the water. It forms a stage for a broad spectrum of music bands. From the adjacent park, you have a perfect view on the bandstand and you can enjoy the atmosphere.
This photo is taken from across the moat, in the direction of the park, the bandstand and the Great St. Bartholomew Church of Schoonhoven.

The Force:
"Life creates it, makes it grow. Its energy surrounds us and binds us. Luminous beings are we, not this crude matter. You must feel the Force around you; here, between you, me, the tree, the rock, everywhere, yes. Even between the land and the ship"

Pride leaders pay a heavy price for their position as is evident from this battle-scarred warrior. I watched an older lion, too weak to join the food fest after a kill, still play a dominant role when it came time to bring down a big bull buffalo. It still went out to challenge another younger and stronger looking male encroaching on the pride’s turf. The photographer part of me wanted to photograph a fight but my tender side wanted the pride leader to live to fight another day. There’s nothing like lions to bring out emotions. Depending on their position in relation to the sunlight and the camera, Speckle Wood Butterflies are sometimes showing wonderful hues of pink, yellow, green and blue in the hair covering their back. This is what I noticed first on this capture.

The sun was in the perfect position to rise between the mountains for sunrise, but that was just one element. I had taken a few photos of the tree the evening before and the water was perfectly still, lovely reelections with a few clouds in the sky. Fast forward 12 hours and it was windy with hardly any clouds in the sky. Luckily i'd set up an hour before sunrise and managed to get a bit of the early morning colour.
A client of mine is looking to add choreographed routines to their bi-monthly events. Info below
Thank you for your interest in the Cabaret Choreography Position!
L&H has 2 main venues, Love&Harmony Jazz Club with over 4000 active group members, and our new Orchide's Private Club.
Each venue hosts various events throughout the month, themed tribute concerts and much more along with an active ballroom.
CHOREOGRAPHY POSITION:
We are looking for a talented individual that can piece together "Cabaret" style routes 2 times a month (some routes can be used over and over on different dates with outfit changes I'm sure).
Support from venue will be provided for various items as needed (props, costumes, etc).
This isn't an "our venue" only position. If you perform and do choreography at another venue, that is great! We support everyone and just looking for something that can devote some time to putting on semi-regular routes at our venue.
Contact Orchide2 or Samual Wetherby if you have any questions.
