On darksome pools o' stwoneless Stour

So I took my camera to work with me, but the light let me down tonight. Luckily, it was shining nicely through my spare room window into the hall area when I got out the shower this morning. I must have looked slightly mad in only a towel, Cannon in hand, trying to shoo kitty away from the feather and beautiful light pool.
It was blue hour and the stars were not coming out in large numbers on this night, so when I illuminated the salt ridges and saw the shadows, I decided to see if I could add a light orb as a subject and fill the depressions with light.

These small natural pools were formed in the sandstone facing the edge of the canyon at Deadhorse Point State Park. We visited during a dry summer and no water was collected.

Blue Pools, just out of Makarora in Mt Aspiring National Park. Kicking myself about the water drops but given the rain we were facing, I was lucky to get out with just them.

I always put my shots on the geomap must say when I am looking at other peoples work it annoys me when I have no idea where they were taken.
Saying that this shot could be almost anywhere. However it was shot on the beach at Le Crotoy in Picardy. The town rather than facing the sea directly is on the Baie de la Somme a huge estuary, when the tide is out you get huge area of mud with very useful pools. It’s a great spot for Bird watching but sadly we did not have time to take up the opportunity
THANKS FOR YOUR VISIT HAVE A GREAT DAY
The fairy pools in the Isle Skye. I went to Skye for a week in April and was lucky enough to have some lovely weather to get out exploring what it has to offer.
The fairy pools, a beautiful accumulation of smaller waterfalls on the isle of skye. I went there two times to take some shots and on this day, the wind was incredibly strong and rough. Nevertheless worth the visit!

Most of the photographs that I have added here from my trip to Skye have benefitted from good light. I was lucky during my 5 days on the island that during the limited occasions when good light 'happened', I happened to be in a good spot.
On a day when there was likely to be no noticeable light whatsoever, I knew exactly where to head.
The water tumbling from the dramatic Cuillin Mountains is crystal clear with the rocks of one of the Fairy Pools clearly visible beneath its surface.
Went to Kohanaiki Beach Park [pine trees beach] where there were lots of tide pools and where surfers hang out. And went to another cool lava rock beach with huge waves about a mile away... on the Big Island of Hawaii [North Kona coast]. Photo was taken somewhere in between these two beaches.
Another one from the visit to the Champagne Pools in Moreton Island at sunrise. Could not ask more of the conditions that I found this morning. I drove back pretty happy with the data in the memory stick :)
on the road to Glenbrittle you pass the walk to the Fairy Pools on the Isle of Skye, what a super walk and climb up the hillside following various waterfalls and pools until you get to the top pool. The Fairy Pools are at the foot of the Black Cullins and looked super with a snow covering as we had had snowon and off the previous day and it changed the scenery quite dramatically, it also help the flow of water in the pools as the snow was melting quite quickly.

The top of the Fairy Pools in Glen Brittle, Isle of Skye. Nice December day for a stroll up the river. I was tempted to have a dip.........but came to my senses.
Fairy Pools, Isle of Syke, Scotland. There were thousands of midges swarming around me while I took a bunch of pictures, but the view was totally worth it

Here's an attempt to be more recent with my posts. I took this shot yesterday afternoon at the Emerald Pools in Zion. I wished I could have gone earlier in the morning when there was more snow, but I was busy with other things. Fortunately, there was still a little snow which framed the falls nicely. Zion NP is so nice in the winter. It's quite peaceful without all the crowds!
