The fairy pools in the Isle Skye. I went to Skye for a week in April and was lucky enough to have some lovely weather to get out exploring what it has to offer.
The fairy pools, a beautiful accumulation of smaller waterfalls on the isle of skye. I went there two times to take some shots and on this day, the wind was incredibly strong and rough. Nevertheless worth the visit!

The water tumbling from the dramatic Cuillin Mountains is crystal clear with the rocks of one of the Fairy Pools clearly visible beneath its surface.
Went to Kohanaiki Beach Park [pine trees beach] where there were lots of tide pools and where surfers hang out. And went to another cool lava rock beach with huge waves about a mile away... on the Big Island of Hawaii [North Kona coast]. Photo was taken somewhere in between these two beaches.
Another one from the visit to the Champagne Pools in Moreton Island at sunrise. Could not ask more of the conditions that I found this morning. I drove back pretty happy with the data in the memory stick :)

This aerial photograph looks down on Thornham Harbour on the North Norfolk coast where a narrow tidal creek threads through saltmarsh and shallow pools then runs alongside the sea wall and the staithe track. The dark, branching rills in the marsh show how the tide drains off the flats while the greener fields to the right sit behind the embankment on reclaimed grazing marsh.
At the edge of the creek is Thornham’s Coal Barn, sometimes simply called the Coal Barn at Thornham Staithe. It is closely associated with the harbour’s late trading years when coastal craft brought coal in and carried local produce out. One of the best known figures linked to the port was the coal merchant Nathaniel Woods. His two masted cargo ship Jessie Mary is commemorated at All Saints’ Church, Thornham and its final voyage into the harbour is commonly given as 1914.
The working harbour landscape here sits on older foundations. Records for the area describe major marshland reclamation and embanking in the 1642–1643 period and the harbour continued to evolve with quays and buildings serving coastal trade for centuries. The great flood of 1953 is often cited locally as a turning point for North Sea coastal infrastructure and it is remembered at Thornham in the loss of former harbour buildings such as the old granary. Today the creek is used mainly for small boats and the Coal Barn stands as a distinctive landmark in a tidal landscape that is still constantly reshaped by wind, water and silt.
on the road to Glenbrittle you pass the walk to the Fairy Pools on the Isle of Skye, what a super walk and climb up the hillside following various waterfalls and pools until you get to the top pool. The Fairy Pools are at the foot of the Black Cullins and looked super with a snow covering as we had had snowon and off the previous day and it changed the scenery quite dramatically, it also help the flow of water in the pools as the snow was melting quite quickly.

We spent over 8 hours over 2 separate days exploring the Fairy Pools on the River Brittle (Allt Coir a Mhadaidh) and the foothills of the Black Cuillins in Glen Brittle on the Isle of Skye, Scotland. This shot was taken on the first day, when there was lots of rain and fog. Two days later, the flow on the right of the large rock was no longer happening and so the composition wasn't there. In the background you can see the pinnacle of Sgur an Fheadin and its Waterpipe Gully, first climbed successfully in 1895. On our second day here we walked to its base and beyond. This is the same spotas the previous picture. This time in potrait format to get a bit more water.
Fairy Pools, Isle of Syke, Scotland. There were thousands of midges swarming around me while I took a bunch of pictures, but the view was totally worth it

Here's an attempt to be more recent with my posts. I took this shot yesterday afternoon at the Emerald Pools in Zion. I wished I could have gone earlier in the morning when there was more snow, but I was busy with other things. Fortunately, there was still a little snow which framed the falls nicely. Zion NP is so nice in the winter. It's quite peaceful without all the crowds!
I've recently found myself drawn to finding these places where light spills through the woodland canopy.

Fairy Pools in Glen Brittle is an iconic location on the famous Isle of Skye. It consists of a string of small waterfalls, shadowed by the imposing wall of the Black Cuillins ridge

Last weekend's drive to Bath County, Virginia, included a stop at the recently restored Warm Springs Pools. The natural, mineral-rich warm springs have been used for centuries for visitors to "take the waters." The original stone basin of the present Gentlemen's Bathhouse was built in 1761, with the building dating to the 1820s. The 22-sided Ladies' Bathhouse, shown in this photo, dates to the 1870s. Visitors check in at the Reception House, on the right in the photo. The pools are owned by the Omni Homestead Resort, in nearby Hot Springs, and they reopened in December 2022 after being closed several years for renovation. This was my first visit to "take the waters" following the restoration. Information from a brochure at the pools.
Many Pools hiking trail in Zion NP
It was unusual crowded in Zion this time, but there is always ways to avoid the crowd
a) go on your journey at the very early morning
b) go somewhere else, where nobody else is going ( well almost nobody else), like Many Pools trail. Maybe this place is less popular, but it was spectacular and I was the only one here at 7 am.
