Chapman’s Pool is a rough-cut cove in the depths of the Isle of Purbeck, Dorset. It’s not easy to get to, but this was the destination of this mornings adventure. Pretty difficult to navigate visiting somewhere for the first time in the dark (with some slippery moments!) but so worthwhile. Such an awesome little cove!
This was taken from inside the Woodpecker Hide at Warnham Nature Reserve looking out over this raised pool . It is about 4 or 5 foot wide and about 20 odd foot long ( measurements very approx - been a long time since I could estimate distances , surveying days done before the end of the 70s ! ) . The pool is also 4 or 5 foot off of ground level so that when viewed from inside the hide the water level is just below the level of the observation opening . Not seen anything using the pool yet but I am sure a good few birds take a drink at least . What caught my eye though was the total stillness of the water and the reflections to be found on the surface of the water .
The Hide looks out onto around 8 hanging feeders as well as some more natural looking place for food to be left for no end of different birds and animals to call and grab a bite of what they fancy !

Thanks to Cloud-man Bob for pointing out the cloud reflections in the pool, which I then tried to align to good view.
Drakes Pool is just down the road from me, on the way to Crosshaven.
I've passed it plenty of times but this is my first time photographing it.
Luckily there is a slack tide so the water was nice and still which made it pretty easy to capture the reflections at sunset.
A lot of boats come here to tie up to a mooring to get out of, what can be rough water in Cork Harbour.
Nothin' like playing on the beach and hanging around the pool all day in Maui. A photo from this spring's family Hawaii trip. Next stop - Tahiti and French Polynesia. My wife and I are taking off in about a week!
Cargill Pool, built between 1925 and 1926, is the only Buffalo grain elevator located on Lake Erie (all the others are on the Buffalo River). The grain elevator was invented (or, some say, perfected) in Buffalo in the 1840s and there are still over 30 of these beautiful giants to be seen in Buffalo today.
A sunlit area of bedrock beside a shadowed pool of water in which there is a suggestion of a very distinct pareidokia face (located where the sunlit extension is pointing).
Over the years I've taken many pictures of this pool. This is a compilation of two images - one in the winter the other the fall. There were a lot of variations and I chose one with a softer feel to it.

Taken on a walk around the neighbourhood.
There's a funky little paddling pool near our house that I didn't know was there.

For the past little bit I have been working on a series of short audio-slideshows featuring 70 profiles of Newfoundlanders and Labradorians. Newfoundland and Labrador joined Canadian confederation 70 years ago and I thought it would be interesting to talk a snapshot of the province at this moment in time. I am working with a producer and we are trying to match demographic, geographic and occupational data across the episodes in order to reflect as much of the province as we possibly can.
