The fishing pool where Loch Shiel passes under the old arched bridge into the River Shiel towards Loch Moidart. In the fishing pool the water is deep and swirls in whirlpools, creating an intoxicating soup for the fish which are caught from the wooden walkways and platforms jutting out from the river's edge
The Champagne Pool is a prominent geothermal feature within the Waiotapu geothermal area in the North Island of New Zealand. The terrestrial hot spring is located about 30 km southeast of Rotorua and about 50 km northeast of Taupo. The name Champagne Pool is derived from the abundant efflux of carbon dioxide (CO2), similar to a glass of bubbling champagne. The hot spring was formed 900 years ago by a hydrothermal eruption. Its crater is around 65 m (213 ft) in diameter with a maximum depth of approximately 62 m (203 ft) and is filled with an estimated volume of 50,000 m3 (1,800,000 cu ft) of geothermal fluid.

A favourite location of mine for New Year's Day walkies near Sligachan, Isle of Skye - a dull and dreary morning but it wasn't raining!

A strange little snowmelt pool is a sign that spring may be coming at last to Lago, Idaho. The Charles H. Bassett livery barn in the background is starting to sag, but has survived another winter.
A full moon always creates extreme tides and beautiful tide pools at Point Lobos State Natural Reserve. A small abalone shares a tide pool with the shell of a sea urchin, a sea anemone and a few mussels.
Hope you have a lovely Sunday! Thanks, as always, for stopping by and for all of your kind comments, awards and faves.

Morning Glory Pool is undoubtedly one of the highlights of the Upper Geyser Basin despite being less beautiful than it once was, since large amounts of rocks and trash have been thrown into the pool by thoughtless visitors, significantly reducing the water temperature. The pool used to be filled by rich blue water, with a narrow ring of orange-yellow bacteria only around the edge; now the water is more greenish and the algae band is much wider. The pool is 20 feet in diameter, 23 feet deep, round and symmetric, with a conical vent at the center, and may be viewed from a raised boardwalk that extends along nearly half its circumference. The spring drains westwards into the Firehole River, 100 feet away. It was named in 1883 for its resemblance in color and shape to the morning glory flower.

Please do not throw things into these pools. Morning Glory Pool has been almost ruined with all the coins the garbage us humans have tossed into it. This is not Morning Glory Pool but I thought it might be appropriate to mention the problem.
I have always loved the colors in the geyser pools.
Image taken at the Christian Science Plaza in Boston, MA. The grounds along side the building are adorned by gardens, a fountain and a stunning 670 foot long reflecting pool.
The reflecting pool, designed by the firm of renowned architect I.M. Pei, is so large that the curvature of the Earth had to be taken into account to keep water from spilling over the sides.
The fountain design includes a cast-iron gate with 2-inch opening that allows 180 water jets to shoot directly out of the ground.
Thank you for your comments.
